Summary

- Netflix streams the show simultaneously with Japanese broadcast, showing investment in the series.
As an old-time anime enthusiast who has witnessed the evolution of the genre over decades, I must admit that “My Happy Marriage” has left me quite impressed. The series masterfully weaves romance with societal challenges set against a historical backdrop, making it one of the most captivating shoujo productions in recent memory.
In the realm of contemporary manga, I’ve seldom come across a series as universally beloved as “My Happy Marriage.” It’s remarkable how it’s managed to capture such broad acclaim, and that’s especially challenging when you consider the genre-bending approach taken by some, like Sailor Moon, which combines shoujo with battle action. Yet, it seems a heartwarming Cinderella-esque storyline is all it takes to win over countless readers.
Apart from its main theme, “My Happy Marriage” also focuses on the evolution of Miyo and Kyoka’s relationship as Kyoka reveals her family’s mistreatment towards her. This anime has gained immense popularity last year, making it one of the most anticipated romance anime for 2025.
A couple of weeks prior to the debut, an unadorned, credit-free video showcasing the concluding theme and sequence for the upcoming episodes was made public! The new ending theme is titled “‘Tsukikage Okuri’ (Moonlight Sending)“, sung by Kashitaro Ito. Give it a listen:
Where to Watch the Anime Series
The upcoming season is scheduled to premiere on January 6, 2025, and it will become available for streaming on Netflix simultaneously with its Japanese airing, just like the initial season. Additionally, it’s expected that both subtitled and dubbed episodes will be released concurrently once more.
In addition to its initial season, Netflix recently added an additional episode labeled as “episode 13.” However, this extra episode is actually a special OVA that was released together with the 8th novel volume. It’s unusual for Netflix to stream OVAs, which suggests significant involvement (and possibly financial investment) by the streaming service in this adaptation.
What to Expect from the Second Season
The upcoming season is expected to explore Miyo’s power of seeing dreams and her efforts to establish a more intimate relationship with Kyoka’s parents, particularly his mother. A key aspect will be learning how to interact with her mother without repeating the subservient role she was stuck in at her own family home, where she was often treated less than a servant.
Given that her powers are rare and potentially valuable to many magical families, it’s quite possible that Kyoka may often find herself needing to safeguard herself from potential threats.
