Many characters in My Hero Academia have incredibly strong fire-based powers. These abilities can be very dangerous, potentially causing a lot of damage if used by villains. What makes them even more challenging is that they’re hard to control or put out – some burn at temperatures that can injure even experienced heroes in the series.
The series showcases a variety of fire-based Quirks, each distinguished by its heat, color, how it’s used, and the extent of damage it can cause. Some of these fire Quirks are exceptionally powerful in My Hero Academia, surpassing all others in both intensity and impact. The users of these particularly strong Quirks are often recognized for their incredible destructive abilities.
Ignition
Quirk User: Moyuru Tochi
Ignition is a Quirk featured in the My Hero Academia spin-off series, Vigilantes, and is used by the former villain, Moyuru Tochi. While ‘Ignition’ sounds impressive, the Quirk itself isn’t very strong. Initially, it only lets Moyuru create small, weak flames – a fitting power for a minor villain.
After being hit by the Ideo Trigger, Moyuru’s Ignition ability became much stronger, allowing him to create bigger and more powerful flames. He can also shoot flames like many other characters, though his fire isn’t as intense as that of heroes like Endeavor, Shoto, or Dabi.
Hardflame Fan
Quirk User: All For One
Throughout the series, All For One has collected many Quirks, and Hardflame Fan is one of them. We don’t know who originally possessed the fire-based Quirk, meaning All For One is currently the only known user. He first used it in episode 147 of My Hero Academia during his fight with Hawks and Endeavor, using it to defend against Endeavor’s powerful Vanishing Fist attack. Interestingly, Hardflame Fan isn’t designed for attacking – it’s a defensive Quirk, unlike other fire-based abilities.
I’m a huge fan of Hardflame Fan! Basically, it lets you build up layers of fire as shields to protect yourself from attacks. It’s so cool – in the anime, those fire walls look like flowing slime, but the manga shows them as solid, rolling flames. Both versions are awesome, but I love seeing the different interpretations!
Eruption
Quirk User: Volcano
Maguma Iwata, also called Volcano, is a fire-based hero who first appeared in a My Hero Academia arcade game. He bears a striking resemblance to Endeavor, sporting a similar blue suit, gauntlets, and boots – almost as if he was specifically designed to look like him.
Maguma’s Quirk is called Volcano, and it allows him to shoot lava and magma from his body. Interestingly, it works similarly to Fat Gum’s Quirk: just as Fat Gum turns his fat into attacks, Maguma burns his own fat to produce lava and magma.
Half-Cold Half-Hot
Quirk User: Shoto Todoroki
In My Hero Academia, Shoto Todoroki’s biggest advantage is his ability to control both ice and fire. He’s different from his father and brother because he doesn’t just have these powers – he can also skillfully use them together.
Shoto is incredibly powerful because he can use both ice and fire at the same time, freezing and burning enemies simultaneously. His unique ability, called “cold fire,” is a special move that shows just how well he controls both his ice and fire powers.
Even without his ice powers, Shoto’s fire abilities are incredibly powerful – potentially even stronger than those of his brother and father. He can burn anything he touches and create intense flames, like walls of fire or powerful streams.

Hellflame
Quirk User: Endeavor
Endeavor is incredibly skilled with his fire abilities. While his flames aren’t as powerful as Dabi’s, he can do much more with them. He has a wide range of fire-based attacks and defenses, including flamethrowers, heat beams, walls of fire, and even spinning firestorms, making him a very adaptable fighter.
Endeavor can create fire-based weapons like flaming arrows and harpoons to fight his opponents. He’s very proud of his flames and always displays them, seeing them as a sign of his strength and his position as a top Pro Hero.
I’ve noticed Endeavor has a remarkable control over his Hellflame. He can change the heat depending on who he’s fighting. When pushed hard, he can even shift his flames from red to blue, similar to Dabi. But using his flames too much takes a toll on him; he gets noticeably slower. If he really overdoes it, someone actually has to cool him down before he can get back into the fight.
Blueflame
Quirk User: Dabi
Dabi’s fire is unlike any other in the series. It’s a striking blue color, which makes it more powerful and hotter than everyone else’s, even Endeavor’s. However, using these intense blue flames isn’t easy – even Dabi can’t maintain them for extended fights, largely due to the genetic traits he inherited from his mother.
Even so, Dabi acts impulsively, overusing his Blueflame to try and defeat Endeavor and fuel his anger. The more furious he gets with Endeavor and others, the stronger his Blueflame becomes. It’s incredibly dangerous – his flames can even harm Endeavor, who is highly resistant to fire, demonstrating just how powerful Dabi’s abilities are.
Dabi’s flames are incredibly powerful. Against opponents vulnerable to fire, his attacks often result in instant death, leaving only ashes behind. He can ignite someone with a single touch, and easily burn multiple enemies at once, even from a distance, using techniques like flamethrowers or waves of fire.
