My Hero Academia: 7 Most Lethal Quirks In The Anime

Fans around the world are captivated as the final season of My Hero Academia airs, bringing this incredible story to an end. We’re seeing the climax of Izuku Midoriya’s quest to become the top hero, with a massive final battle unfolding between him and Shigaraki. Throughout its run, My Hero Academia has delivered many memorable rivalries and action-packed fights, showcasing the unique powers of its characters.

Certain abilities, called Quirks, in My Hero Academia are incredibly powerful and potentially world-threatening, even with minimal effort. These Quirks range from those causing widespread devastation to more focused, yet equally dangerous, powers. Here’s a ranking of some of the deadliest Quirks in the series.

Gearshift

An Extremely Powerful Quirk Made More Dangerous By One For All

Gearshift was the unique ability of Kudo Toshitsugu, the second user of the One For All quirk. Although never seen in its original form, it first appeared when Izuku Midoriya fully mastered One For All and connected with previous users. Essentially an offensive power, Gearshift initially allowed Kudo to greatly increase the speed of attacks launched from his gauntlets.

Gearshift has become more powerful and can now accelerate many different things, like direct hits and even people nearby. By shifting into different “Gears,” it can turn a single punch into something as devastating as a close-range gunshot, making it extremely dangerous against anyone who isn’t as tough as Higuraki.

Blackhole

The Void That Nothing Survives

Though Space Hero Thirteen hasn’t been a major character in My Hero Academia, her introduction and Quirk made a big impression. In fact, her ability, Black Hole, is considered the most powerful in the series. It works exactly as you’d expect – it pulls anything caught in its range into a void, effectively erasing it from existence.

I’ve observed that when Thirteen activates their power, they essentially create a localized black hole. It bends time and space, pulling everything nearby into it. What’s really unsettling is that there doesn’t seem to be a limit to how long they can maintain this ability, and once something is pulled in, it’s just…gone. Completely erased.

Explosion

A Cataclysmic Quirk That Leaves Nothing Standing

Katsuki Bakugo’s explosive ability is well-known throughout My Hero Academia, having been a powerful force since the very beginning of the series. He creates these explosions using a special sweat he stores in his palms, releasing powerful bursts of fire and force.

Bakugo’s explosive ability perfectly reflects his intense personality. He uses it for everything from boosting his movement to clearing obstacles in battle. The sheer power of his explosions is immense – capable of destroying large objects, demolishing buildings, and even defeating powerful enemies. In fact, its destructive potential might rival the famous fire abilities of the Todoroki family.

Rewind

An Unstable Quirk That Warps Time Itself

I have to say, the story of Rewind and its user, Eri, is one of the saddest I’ve encountered in My Hero Academia. Izuku Midoriya discovered her during season four, and it turned out she’d been held captive by a villain named Overhaul. He wanted to exploit her unique ability, and unfortunately, that meant subjecting her to constant, terrible torture just to try and control it.

Rewind is a power that turns back time for a person, essentially making them younger and healing any injuries they have, but it happens without their control. Overhaul, on the other hand, developed a weapon that could completely erase people’s powers, making him a very formidable threat.

Fire Quirk

A Dangerous Line Of Quirks That Turn Everything To Cinder

In My Hero Academia, the Todoroki family – particularly Shoto, Enji, and Dabi – are known for their incredibly powerful fire-based Quirks. Whenever they use their abilities, it can completely shift the momentum of a fight. Although each family member’s Quirk is different, they all have immense destructive potential.

It’s been proven that Endeavor’s flames can completely destroy Nomu, even overcoming their ability to regenerate. Shoto’s fire and ice combination creates a powerful effect, but Dabi’s flames, driven by his anger, are incredibly destructive. Facing any of these fire-based Quirks requires immense strength just to survive.

Overhaul

Rips Apart Targets At A Biological Level

In season four of My Hero Academia, Overhaul served as the primary antagonist. By leading the Yakuza and developing a power that could nullify quirks, he became a major danger – an even bigger threat than the League of Villains.

Overhaul possesses a unique ability that lets him completely disassemble and reconstruct living tissue at a molecular level. With just a touch, he can disintegrate a person into a cloud of red particles. He was responsible for creating special bullets called ‘Rewind’ and cruelly experimented on Eri, attempting to exploit her own power. While Overhaul’s quirk can be used for restoration, it has also caused significant damage.

Decay

A Quirk That Brings The End Of All Things

I’ve been watching this whole situation unfold, and it’s clear Shiguraki is the last major obstacle to getting things back to normal. He’s been systematically taking down anyone who tries to stop him, using a terrifying ability called Decay. It’s incredibly dangerous – a single touch from him can completely disintegrate anything. It’s a truly frightening power he wields as he moves forward with his destructive plans.

The biggest problem with this ability is how relentlessly it attacks – once it starts, there’s no stopping it. It became even more dangerous when Shigaraki evolved, gaining the power to spread decay over a large area. This constant, unstoppable infection was so powerful it even killed Shigaraki’s own family.
