My Hero Academia: 7 Strongest U.A. Student Ultimate Moves

U.A. High School is Japan’s premier hero academy, where future professional heroes go to train. Students in the Hero Department receive top-notch training to develop their unique abilities, or ‘quirks,’ and become the best heroes they can be. Many of the young heroes in My Hero Academia have proven their potential thanks to their education at U.A.

Ultimate Moves are a hero’s most powerful techniques, typically used to turn the tide of battle. These moves are unique to each person – some focus on defense, while others are purely offensive. Essentially, an Ultimate Move is the peak expression of a hero’s abilities. Throughout the My Hero Academia series, we’ve seen many U.A. students demonstrate their Ultimate Moves, and they always represent the absolute strongest attacks those heroes can perform.

Fumikage Tokoyami – Ragnarok

Manga Debut Chapter 265, “Villains and Heroes”
Anime Debut Episode 116, “One’s Justice”

Tokoyami is a reserved student at U.A. High, preferring to stay out of the spotlight. However, his quirk, Dark Shadow, is a powerful force in battle. Though not as visually impressive as some of his classmates’ abilities, Dark Shadow has proven to be one of the strongest quirks among the U.A. students.

I’m seriously fascinated by Tokoyami’s Dark Shadow quirk, and his Ragnarok technique really shows its potential! It’s all about creating a massive version of Dark Shadow, but it needs a dark environment to work its best. When he has that, it’s unbelievably powerful – it can just plow through almost anything! But it’s not just brute force; he’s got some clever variations too. There’s ‘Womb,’ where he uses the huge Dark Shadow to trap opponents, and then there’s ‘Fleeting Blow,’ which is this incredible combo attack using both Ragnarok and his Black Abyss – a truly devastating one-two punch!

Tamaki Amajiki – Plasma Cannon

Manga Debut Chapter 361, “Abnormal Happenings”
Anime Debut Episode 149, “Light Fades to Rain”

Tamaki Amajiki, also known as Suneater, has a truly unusual quirk. It lets him transform parts of his body based on what he eats – for example, consuming octopus allows him to create tentacles. This is already a flexible power, but Suneater enhances it further with his powerful Plasma Cannon technique.

He can mimic the properties of anything he eats, and by combining this with Nejire’s quirk, he unleashes a powerful plasma blast. Although the attack roots him to the spot immediately after, the sheer force of the blast makes up for his temporary immobility. It’s an incredible feat for someone with his abilities, highlighting just how unique and potent his power truly is.

Nejire Hado – Nejire Flood

Manga Debut Chapter 290, “Dabi’s Dance”
Anime Debut Episode 124, “Dabi’s Dance”

Nejire is a powerful student at U.A. High School, considered one of the school’s top heroes. Her quirk, Wave Motion, allows her to transform her own life energy into powerful waves that she can project over long distances, making her very effective against tough opponents.

Nejire’s most powerful attack, Nejire Flood, is a greatly amplified version of her quirk. It unleashes a huge wave of energy that can overwhelm opponents. While simple in concept – just maximizing her quirk’s power – it’s incredibly effective against most enemies.

Mirio Togata – Phantom Menace

Manga Debut Episode 150, “Mirio Togata”
Anime Debut Episode 74, “Lemillion”

It’s clear why Nighteye saw potential in Mirio to follow in All Might’s footsteps when the time came for a new hero. Mirio is exceptionally talented with his quirk, and his positive, upbeat attitude makes him a natural candidate to become the next top-ranked hero. Through dedicated training, he perfected the Permeation quirk – a skill shared with his father – and ultimately became the strongest member of U.A.’s Big 3.

Mirio’s powerful ‘Phantom Menace’ attack really highlights his quirk’s versatility. To use it, Mirio gets up close and rapidly phases through objects, unleashing a flurry of punches. This constant, unpredictable movement makes him difficult to track and defend against, and combined with his incredible strength, quickly overwhelms his opponents.

Shoto Todoroki – Great Glacial Aegir

Manga Debut Chapter 352, “Ultimate Moves”
Anime Debut Episode 146, “Two Flashfires”

Shoto is definitely one of the most powerful students in Class 1-A. His unusual Half-Cold Half-Hot Quirk makes him a very adaptable fighter, and he’s developed many different ways to use it effectively. Of all his moves, his Great Glacial Aegir is by far the strongest.

Shoto combines his fire and ice powers to quickly close distance with his opponent. He attacks up close while simultaneously freezing the area around them. This powerful move was strong enough to extinguish the massive inferno Dabi created using his Blueflame during the final battle.

Katsuki Bakugo – Howitzer Impact: Cluster

Manga Debut Chapter 358, “The Guy Who’s Made Some Progress”
Anime Debut Episode 148, “Wounded Hero, Burning Bright and True!!”

Bakugo’s explosive personality is perfectly reflected in his Quirk. He sweats a nitroglycerin-like substance from his palms, which he ignites to create powerful explosions. He’s developed many techniques to maximize his Quirk’s potential, with his most impressive being the devastating ‘Howitzer Impact: Cluster’ attack.

This new attack is an enhanced version of his Howitzer Impact, where he launches himself forward with a series of explosions. Called Howitzer Impact: Cluster, it covers a much larger area than the original and finishes with a powerful blast of fire that would likely defeat most enemies.

Izuku Midoriya – Detroit Smash: Quintuple

Manga Debut Chapter 369, “A Chain of Events, Across the Ages”
Anime Debut Episode 151, “A Chain of Events, Across the Ages”

Deku received the incredibly powerful and adaptable quirk One For All from All Might. Because he’s so fascinated by quirks in general, Deku has developed many unique techniques as he’s learned to control it. While he’s inspired by All Might, Deku has also found ways to make the quirk his own.

Deku’s Detroit Smash: Quintuple Ultimate is an incredibly powerful attack. It combines his Gearshift ability with the strength of One For All. Deku first uses Gearshift on himself to boost his speed, then rapidly delivers five consecutive Detroit Smash attacks. The sheer force of this technique is overwhelming, and Deku effectively used it during his battle with Shigaraki in the Final War.
