With the current season underway, *My Hero Academia* is nearing its conclusion. The series, which has resonated with fans worldwide and popularized the motto “Plus Ultra,” is poised to be remembered as one of the most beloved anime of all time.
Kohei Horikoshi created something truly special with *My Hero Academia*, successfully combining the excitement of Western superhero stories with the style of Eastern manga. The series is a powerful and moving journey about a young man striving to become the world’s greatest hero. Throughout the story, many heroes demonstrate incredible bravery and selflessness, just like the main character, Deku, risking everything to help others. Here’s a look at some of the most heroic and selfless characters in the series.
Recovery Girl
The Helpful Healer of UA Academy
Recovery Girl isn’t a major character in *My Hero Academia*, but she played a crucial part in helping Deku learn to control his abilities. As the school nurse at UA Academy, her quirk allows her to quickly heal students who get hurt during training and battles.
Recovery Girl’s Heal quirk allows her to quickly mend broken bones and serious injuries with a kiss, accelerating the body’s natural healing abilities. She constantly witnesses the sacrifices heroes and students make, and bravely handles the emotional toll of caring for them while they overcome their own challenges.
Koji Koda
The Heart Of Gold Hero

Koji Koda is one of the kindest and most genuine students at UA Academy, entering class 1-A alongside Deku. He’s a very quiet and shy person who dreamed of becoming a hero and using his ability to talk to animals. Though he isn’t a powerful fighter, Koji consistently proves his worth to his friends and those who need help, often making a real difference in battles. Even though his quirk isn’t the strongest, and he isn’t the toughest fighter, Koji is always ready to lend a hand and strives to be a true hero.
Inginium
The Ever Faithful Student Class President
Tenya Ida is a central figure in UA Academy’s Class 1-A. Coming from a family of heroes, he’s determined to be a role model for his classmates and uphold the values of his older brother, the hero Ingenium. Ida is exceptionally dedicated, and his willingness to help others often takes priority, even over his own safety. While he might not be the most physically gifted, Ida is always the first to jump into action and the last to give up.
Red Riot
The Shield Of The Weak
Red Riot is remarkably selfless, always willing to put himself in harm’s way to protect others. His powerful hardening ability allows him to shield people from even the most devastating attacks, fearlessly facing powerful villains like Gigantomachia and Rappa. Despite his incredibly tough exterior, Red Riot is a kind and emotionally strong young man, and his sheer determination makes him a reliable protector.
Edgeshot
The Thread That Binds Heroes Together
Edgeshot didn’t appear often in *My Hero Academia*, but he was a remarkably reliable pro hero, even after many heroes recovered from difficult times. His Foldabody quirk gives him incredible versatility, allowing him to transform his body into a thread for both powerful attacks and strong defense. Beyond his abilities, Edgeshot is a dedicated hero who leads through his actions. A prime example of his heroism is when he risked everything to save Bakugo, potentially sacrificing himself in the process.
Star And Stripe
A Hero Who Made The Ultimate Sacrifice
Star and Stripe first appeared in Season Five of *My Hero Academia* when she challenged the newly powered-up Shigaraki, who was determined to obtain One for All. Her arrival was impactful, immediately demonstrating her strength and earning her a place alongside All Might.
Star’s unique ability, New Order, proved incredibly effective against Shigaraki and significantly shaped the story. Her immediate willingness to sacrifice herself for her friends highlighted her generous nature. It became evident that Star wasn’t motivated by personal ambition, but by a desire to support and empower those around her.
Deku
The New Star Of Heroism
Deku, the beloved main character who won over anime fans worldwide, overcame a difficult start – born without any special powers – to become a powerful hero facing incredible responsibility. His biggest dream was always to be just like his hero, All Might.
Inspired by the legendary hero All Might, Deku was chosen to inherit his power. While he still needed to train physically, Deku already had the heart of a true hero – a selfless spirit that always drove him to do what’s right, even at great personal risk. From rushing into danger without powers to protecting others, Deku embodies the very best qualities of heroism.
All Might
The Symbol Of Peace
The world’s most famous hero became known globally simply by showing people his back. Like Deku, All Might began as an ordinary person with no special powers, but he received a power from another and ultimately became the greatest hero of all time.
All Might wasn’t just powerful – his strength, speed, and stamina were matched by his incredible courage and selflessness. Even after retiring as a hero, he continues to prioritize the safety of others, putting their needs before his own.
