My Hero Academia: 9 Overpowered Quirks That Can Destroy Cities

In My Hero Academia, people have special abilities called quirks, which are the foundation of the series’ power system. These quirks allow ordinary people to become heroes or villains. The show, created by Kohei Horikoshi, features a wide range of quirks – some control fire, others enhance movement, and many are truly unique and defy expectations.

The world of My Hero Academia features superpowers, or “quirks,” some of which are incredibly powerful and could easily level a city. Because of this potential for destruction, it’s vital that these abilities are used responsibly. Unfortunately, villains could also exploit these dangerous quirks to cause widespread chaos and destruction.

9. Vibration Causes Structural Collapse Across Cities

User: Yo Shindo

Powers that have the potential for large-scale destruction, like earthquakes, often cause significant city-wide damage. Yo Shindo’s Quirk, Vibration, is a prime example of this kind of powerful ability. It allows him to create shock waves that can travel through various materials.

The more powerful and long-lasting Yo Shindo’s vibrations are, the more destruction his quirk can cause. His strongest attack, Tremoring Earth, lets him create a huge earthquake by putting both hands on the ground, instantly breaking everything nearby.

8. Earthflow Is a Major Threat in Natural Terrain

User: Ryuko Tsuchikawa

Ryuko Tsuchikawa’s ability, called Earthflow, remains a significant danger to cities located near mountains, forests, and comparable landscapes as long as there’s land on Earth. Because of its extensive reach, she can cause devastating events like avalanches and widespread soil erosion.

Ryuko’s ability, Earthflow, lets her control soil however she wants. She can even build massive creatures made of earth to fight for her. Luckily, Ryuko is kind and wants to use her power to help future heroes and keep the world safe.

7. Weather Manipulation Has Shown Island-Level Destruction

User: Nine

Weather Manipulation is a god-level quirk that allows Nine to manifest giant tornadoes, lethal lightning bolts, and giant storm clouds on the battlefield. Weather Manipulation is an overpowered quirk that must be used with extreme caution and restraint, as using it irresponsibly can easily lead to catastrophic consequences.

Nine has demonstrated a serious threat level by completely destroying an island using his ability to control the weather. If he were to use this power in a city, especially combined with a quirk that amplifies abilities, he could cause massive destruction without exhausting himself.

6. Explosion Can Leave Any Area Engulfed in Flames

User: Katsuki Bakugo

Right from the start of My Hero Academia, Katsuki Bakugo has a remarkably strong ability called Explosion. This quirk lets him turn his sweat into powerful blasts of different sizes, causing widespread destruction. Interestingly, the more Bakugo fights, the more powerful his explosions become, as his body generates more sweat.

As the story progresses, Bakugo’s explosive power becomes incredibly dangerous, allowing him to create a rapid series of explosions. He could devastate an entire city very quickly, leaving nothing but craters and fire in his wake.

5. Hellflame Is Capable of Large-Scale Urban Destruction

User: Endeavor

Endeavor’s Hellflame ability lets him create incredibly powerful flames. He can generate huge pillars of fire, cause widespread firestorms, and create massive blasts that can easily burn through buildings and even devastate entire city blocks.

I’ve noticed that Shoto Todoroki and Dabi are both incredibly powerful when it comes to fire-based abilities. Honestly, their potential for destruction seems to even surpass Endeavor’s famous Hellflame.

4. Darkness Has Massive Destructive Potential

User: Koki Terumoto

Many action-packed anime series feature characters with dark powers who are seen as dangerous, and Koki Terumoto fits this pattern. His Quirk, called Darkness, lets him create large areas of darkness using a purple, sludge-like substance that flows from his hands and feet.

The full extent of Koki’s Darkness quirk remains unknown, making him a terrifying user capable of plunging an entire city into oblivion with ease. With Deku guiding Koki, he gains the chance to ensure no one ends up like Tomura Shigaraki again.

3. Impure Beam Instantly Turns Battlefields Into Ruins

Users: All For One, Tomura Shigaraki

In My Hero Academia, a single blast from Impure Beam is devastating enough to wipe out an entire city. This quirk is incredibly powerful, capable of defeating even the strongest opponents – it nearly killed Gigantomachia, significantly weakened All Might’s powerful shield, and instantly countered Tokoyami’s Dark Shadow ability.

Firing a powerful Impure Beam doesn’t shield the user from its damaging kickback. Only individuals with exceptional healing and physical strength, like All For One and Tomura Shigaraki, can fire several Impure Beams without risking serious injury, such as losing their hands.

2. Overhaul Gives Absolute Control Over Matter

User: Kai Chisaki

Kai Chisaki’s quirk, Overhaul, is incredibly powerful and poses a huge threat to the entire city. It lets him instantly take apart and rebuild anything he touches – people, buildings, roads, even large areas and the ground itself.

Kai’s ability, called Overhaul, lets him take apart and rebuild anything he touches, even basic materials. This means he could potentially destroy an entire city by reducing buildings and roads to dust, making no urban area safe from his powerful quirk.

1. Decay Is More Dangerous Than Overhaul

User: Tomura Shigaraki

While Decay seems to be based on the Overhaul quirk used by Kai Chisaki, it’s become much more powerful with Tomura Shigaraki. When Tomura touches something – living or not – Decay spreads quickly, with the speed depending on how large and connected the object is.

I’m seriously blown away by how Tomura’s power is evolving in My Hero Academia! His Decay quirk is getting so intense – it’s not just about taking things out piece by piece anymore. He can now obliterate huge areas all at once, and it’s honestly a little terrifying to watch!
