My Hero Academia: All Might's New Power, Explained

As a dedicated fan of My Hero Academia who has been following this captivating tale since its inception, I must say that the latest developments have left me absolutely thrilled! All Might, our beloved Symbol of Peace, is making his grand comeback, and it’s an emotional rollercoaster like no other.

This article contains spoilers for My Hero Academia Season 7 Episode 21.

In the vibrant universe of “My Hero Academia,” crafted by Kohei Horikoshi, I’ve always admired All Might as a pivotal figure. Entering this world as the most illustrious hero ever known and Japan’s top-tier protector, he was the beacon everyone aspired to emulate and the embodiment of peace that we all clung to dearly.

In their younger years, characters like Bakugo, Shoto, and our story’s main character, Izuku, admired All Might deeply. He was the inspiration for an entire generation of aspiring heroes who enrolled in prestigious hero academies, hoping to follow in his footsteps. All Might served as the catalyst for our beloved protagonist to embark on his adventure. However, as the story unfolded, All Might’s own journey became quite challenging. He lost most, and eventually all, of his powers, leaving him weakened and vulnerable – a stark contrast to his former self. But now, as shown in chapter 386 of “My Hero Academia”, All Might has returned.

How All Might Lost His Power

All Might Passed His Power To Deku

Initially, All Might was renowned as an extraordinarily powerful hero, deserving of the top spot in the story’s opening. However, fans later learned that All Might had been depleting his power rapidly, a consequence of his battle with All For One where he sustained severe injuries during their confrontation. This injury forced him to limit his high-intensity fights. As a result, All Might sought a successor, initially eyeing Mirio. However, an unexpected turn of events led to Deku demonstrating his selfless hero qualities, ultimately earning the right to wield the One For All.

Upon transferring the One For All, fragments of this power lingered within All Might’s body, eventually consuming them all during his final confrontation with All For One at Kamino. Having reached the pinnacle of heroism, All Might surpassed his own limits to overthrow All For One permanently, banishing him to Tartarus. With this act, his legendary era drew to a close and he exhausted his powers completely. Consequently, it fell upon Deku to bear the responsibility of leading the Hero Society forward.

All Might In The Final War

All Might Takes on All For One

After losing his powers, All Might’s physical condition deteriorated significantly, leaving him unable to engage even the weakest villains in combat. His strength was a mere shadow of what it once was, and his endurance had taken a heavy toll. His injury prevented him from performing even the most fundamental actions related to combat, making it apparent that he could no longer serve as a Hero. Endeavor, who previously held the position of Number Two Hero, stepped up to take All Might’s place but fell short of matching his predecessor’s abilities. Despite his efforts, Endeavor was not All Might.

As time went by, All Might’s feelings of powerlessness grew stronger, a stark contrast to the man who had been carrying the entire Hero Society on his shoulders and saving people with a cheerful smile. Being so helpless was a heavy burden for him, but he had no choice but to put his trust in the next generation of heroes and pray for their success. This was the state of affairs throughout most of the story, from when All Might lost his powers until the Final War Saga. Even as All For One and Shigaraki wreaked havoc on the battlefield and heroes were falling left and right, All Might could only watch. However, near the end of the arc, he finally took action.

When All For One was reportedly growing stronger, exceeding his own peak strength, All Might couldn’t stand idly by. He instructed Shoto and Iida to chase after Dabi, leaving the powerful All For One for himself. Despite having no Quirk, he resolved to battle the strongest form of All For One with unwavering faith in his capabilities. In the end, it was Deku, who had once been devoid of a Quirk, who became his heroic counterpart. In his Quirkless state, Toshinori found himself admiring the boy who wept on that momentous day and asking him if he could be a hero.

As I gear up for my showdown against All For One, I can’t help but ponder the thoughts swirling in the minds of fans. They may fear that this battle could end in defeat or even worse, my demise. But let me assure you, I’m not walking into this fight empty-handed.
