The Loss Of One For All During The Final War Arc

Deku Lost The One For All In MHA’s Last Arc

In the world of My Hero Academia, Deku assumed the role as the ninth and last bearer of the One For All ability, which was previously held by All Might, who in turn inherited it from his mentor, Nana Shimura. With this extraordinary power now his, Deku subjected both his mind and body to rigorous training that tested their maximum potential. Determined to be worthy of wielding the One For All, he tirelessly worked to master its control. The One For All proved challenging for him at first, but over time, he managed to gain a firm grasp on it. In fact, his skill with this ability is unparalleled among all characters in the My Hero Academia series.

Goodbye, One For All! – Deku During The Fight Against Shigaraki

Beyond simply acquiring the power of One For All, Deku also possessed the abilities of the vestiges, making him an unprecedented hero. His powers allowed him to accomplish feats that not even All Might could in his strongest days. Remarkably, Deku was capable of facing Shigaraki directly, despite Shigaraki’s extraordinary regeneration, durability, and strength that mirrored All Might’s at his peak.

However, despite all that power that he had, he could not defeat him. In order to do that, Deku had to probe into his deepest of memories, damage him from the inside out, which is why he ended up transferring the vestiges inside Shigaraki one by one. When that happened, Shigaraki was damaged from the inside, and forced to see his own past. This is when All For One took over, and the final fight of My Hero Academia finally began. By this time, Deku had already transferred all of One For All to Shigaraki and he held this power inside of him. All he was left with were the embers of the Quirk, and he utilized those embers to defeat All For One for good.

My Hero Academia: Deku Loses One For All Forever

As a die-hard fan of My Hero Academia, I was eagerly anticipating that Deku would maintain those fiery embers within him for a considerable stretch of his journey. For a brief while post the war, it seemed like he was managing to hold onto the power of One For All. However, I knew deep down that the embers wouldn’t last forever. In essence, Deku was already quirkless, but with a clock ticking – his powers were gradually depleting with each use, and eventually, they ran out in chapter 430. It was evident to me that by the time Deku graduated, One For All had already been exhausted. Tragically, this also marked the period when all my friends embarked on their Hero careers, earning great recognition, while I was left behind. Our interactions with Deku became sparse, and his future looked vastly different from mine.

My Hero Academia: Deku Loses One For All Forever

In the aftermath of the One For All’s fiery demise, I, Deku, embarked on a fresh journey in life. The hero within me was no longer viable due to my lack of strength. Instead, I decided to channel my passion for helping others by taking up a teaching role at UA. To my amazement, this dream that once seemed unattainable, became a reality towards the end of our grueling war. However, as the battle concluded, so did my dream, giving way to a new chapter in my life. Although I didn’t become the greatest hero the world had ever known without paying a hefty price – the One For All was extinguished – I am content knowing that I lived out my aspirations to their fullest extent.

In the beginning, my tale unfolded as my body took action before my thoughts could catch up. Eventually, it concluded, hand-in-hand with the dying flames of One For All. – Deku (paraphrased)

Currently, Deku firmly believes it’s his mission to ensure future generations can chase their dreams, which sets him apart in a unique way. However, he wasn’t filled with resentment or sorrow. Instead, he found a way to assist heroes without officially becoming one himself, demonstrating his ingenious problem-solving abilities.

1. Deku regularly assisted students at UA and shared his knowledge and experiences with them on a daily basis, which is why many consider him one of the greatest heroes ever. Despite this, it’s clear that deep down, Deku yearned to be a hero himself and witnessing his friends achieve their hero dreams might not have been an easy feat for someone who dreamt of being a hero since childhood.

Deku Gains A New Armor

  • Deku Finally Becomes A Hero Again At The End Of MHA

In essence, My Hero Academia chapter 430 revealed that Deku no longer possessed the embers of One For All, effectively losing that power. Yet, this doesn’t rule out the possibility of him acquiring other powers. Towards the end of the same chapter, it was evident to fans that Deku was determined to resume his journey as a Hero. This transformation was made possible by All Might and his companions. Thanks to All Might’s connections in the US, along with Mei’s efforts, an armor similar to the one All Might wore during the Final War was created. However, this armor is significantly stronger due to technological advancements over the past 8 years. This new armor allows Deku to resume his path as a Hero, enabling him to fulfill his dream alongside all the other Heroes he befriended at UA.

The primary factor behind the creation of this armor was none other than Bakugo, serving as an indirect apology he felt he needed to give Deku. He spearheaded most of the funding for this project, with their other friends contributing too. After much effort, the finished product was presented to Deku. In the last scene of My Hero Academia, Deku put on the armor once more and resumed his heroic duties alongside his companions again. This concluded a captivating chapter in the story. Although the One For All no longer exists, Deku has gained a new ability, proving that anyone can indeed become a hero.
