Observing the expansive world of “My Hero Academia”, it’s no surprise that with such a multitude of characters introduced early on, some heroes didn’t fully realize their potential. It’s a pity, as these underdeveloped characters could have grown into remarkable Pro Heroes, had they not been held back by certain circumstances.

8. Yuga Aoyama

Shining Hero: Can’t Stop Twinkling

  • Debut: Start Line (Episode 4 of My Hero Academia)

It’s tough not to empathize with Aoyama. He was a kind-hearted individual who found himself in a difficult situation when All for One threatened his parents, forcing him into the role of an informant to protect his family.

In the end, when his deceit is exposed, he inevitably feels remorse for what he’s done. This regret hinders his development as a Pro Hero, which is unfortunate considering the immense power his laser holds, if only he could overcome the sickness it induces.

7. Tenya Ida

Turbo Hero: Ingenium

  • Debut: Roaring Muscles (Episode 3 of My Hero Academia)

Spectators anticipated Tenya would emerge as one of the prominent Heroes within the storyline, considering his intense battle with Stain. Unfortunately, he didn’t receive another opportunity to shine, as other heroes overshadowed him on various occasions.

It’s quite unexpected that Ida, who was so close to Midoriya, didn’t often get his moment in the spotlight like other protagonist’s friends do, consistently, within their respective anime series.

6. Ibara Shiozaki

The majority of students in Class 1-B often show signs of untapped ability and talent, yet they’ve frequently been overshadowed by their rival class, limiting their chances to shine. Ibara Shiozaki is one such student who exemplifies this wasted potential.

In this version, the emphasis on the concept of wasted potential remains clear while also maintaining a natural and easy-to-read flow.

In the anime “My Hero Academia,” her unique abilities were potent enough to immobilize numerous students, but unfortunately, she didn’t have enough scenes to demonstrate her remarkable talent. She was often sidelined and served as a character with great potential who might have achieved greatness if given more opportunities to showcase her skills in the series.

5. Nejire Hado

  • Debut: A Season for Encounters (Episode 62 of My Hero Academia)

In the anime “My Hero Academia,” the top trio of heroes are exceptionally talented students. Notably, Nejire Chan demonstrated her impressive abilities by generating powerful shockwaves through her Quirk, positioning herself as one of the strongest characters within the storyline.

It’s unfortunate that she didn’t have many chances to shine after the Shie Hassakai arc, and it may be due to the fact that the “Big Three” were created mainly to bring in Lemillion, providing him with multiple chances to demonstrate his heroic abilities.

4. Cathleen Bate

Star and Stripe might have only appeared in one storyline, yet it was more than enough to demonstrate why she was the top hero of America. Her New Order ability was so potent that All for One coveted her powers, unaware of the consequences.

In a fierce struggle that underscored her immense strength, Star and Stripe ultimately had no choice but to give up her life in order to protect her allies. Yet, she didn’t back down without a fight, instead issuing an order to New Order to eliminate the Quirks within Shigaraki, thereby destroying him from within.

3. Tamaki Amajiki

Bizarre Diet Hero: Suneater

  • Debut: A Season for Encounters (Episode 62 of My Hero Academia)

In the thrilling world of U.A., I found myself captivated by a member of the Big Three who seemed to be overshadowed by Lemillion – the mighty Suneater. With his extraordinary abilities, he had the potential to stand among the most powerful heroes in the series. However, it’s a shame that he didn’t get enough limelight, with only one gripping battle during the Shie Hassakai arc being the exception.

In a distinctive ability, Tamaki harnessed the powers of the beings he consumed, which made him unpredictable and dominant in battles. However, as the world of “My Hero Academia” expanded significantly, Tamaki’s role became less prominent in subsequent storylines.

2. Mirai Sasaki

  • Debut: Unrivaled (Episode 63 of My Hero Academia)

From my perspective, despite Sasaki’s rather off-putting demeanor, it’s crucial not to underestimate his prowess as a Pro Hero. His Foresight Quirk, a remarkable ability that heightens predictive capabilities, makes him an undeniable force in battle.

In other words, he had opportunities to be part of many crucial scenes throughout the series, but his overreliance on his unique ability ultimately proved to be a narrow-minded decision that led to his defeat against Overhaul. Unfortunately, in this particular fight, he chose to surrender, which is the exact opposite of what any true hero should do when facing a formidable enemy who has the potential to end their life instantly.

1. Denki Kaminari

  • Debut: What I Can Do for Now (Episode 5 of My Hero Academia)

It’s worth noting that, among the supporting characters in Class 1-A, Kaminari stands out as one of the few who gets to demonstrate his abilities. Yet, considering his Quirk generates lightning, it seems unusual how infrequently he uses it throughout the storyline.

If Denki’s training had been given more importance, he could have utilized his Quirk to jolt anyone obstructing him. However, it seemed that Todoroki’s multi-elemental abilities would be a central aspect of My Hero Academia, which may explain why Kaminari’s moments of brilliance were sporadic throughout the series.
