This article contains spoilers from My Hero Academia’s Epilogue.
The ending of *My Hero Academia* was complicated for the main character, Izuku Midoriya, because the author, Kohei Horikoshi, made some surprising choices. During the final fight with Shigaraki Tomura – who was ultimately controlled by All For One – Izuku ended up giving up the unique power that had been passed down through his family.
Losing his Quirk was a huge setback for Izuku’s goal of becoming a pro hero, but he willingly gave it up to save the world. Now that some time has passed in the *My Hero Academia* story, fans are curious about how strong he is now that he’s no longer able to use One For All. It’s recently been confirmed by the series creator, Kohei Horikoshi, that Izuku Midoriya remains one of the top five strongest heroes, even without his powers.

My Hero Academia fans are aware that Izuku Midoriya isn’t as powerful as he was during the Final War. He intentionally gave away the power of One For All, gradually transferring it to Shigaraki Tomura as a strategy to defeat him. While he succeeded, it came at a great cost: Izuku permanently lost the One For All Quirk and wasn’t able to become a Pro Hero right away.

Izuku eventually achieved his dream of becoming a powerful hero thanks to the incredible support of his classmates, who chipped in to buy him advanced hero armor. Even after losing his quirk, One For All, Izuku remains exceptionally strong – a fact confirmed by the series creator, Kohei Horikoshi. Horikoshi explained that technological advancements have allowed Izuku’s armor to keep him at the top of his game, even without a quirk. Currently, Izuku Midoriya is the No. 4 Hero in Japan, surpassing Bakugo and ranking close to Shoto and Mirio, proving his incredible power level.

Izuku Midoriya Can Become The Number 1 Hero
Izuku Is Rising Through The Ranks Fast
As a huge My Hero Academia fan, I truly believe Izuku Midoriya still has what it takes to become the Number One Hero, even after losing One For All! It’s amazing how quickly he’s risen – he’s already fourth in all of Japan after just a few months of being a pro hero. If he keeps pushing himself and improving like he has been, I honestly think he’ll be able to go toe-to-toe with Mirio Togata before we know it!
Izuku Midoriya is destined to fight him, and when he does, fans are confident he’ll achieve his dream of becoming the Number 1 Hero, just like All Might. It’s simply a matter of when, and it likely depends on Kohei Horikoshi releasing another *My Hero Academia* story or some kind of continuation. While there isn’t much new content available now, fans can expect more to come eventually, so patience is key.
The manga series *My Hero Academia* has finished its run, with a total of 431 chapters available to read on Manga Plus. The anime adaptation will return with Season 8 on October 4, 2025, and you can watch it on Crunchyroll.
