As a die-hard fan of My Hero Academia, I’m absolutely thrilled about the latest spinoff that zeroes in on our vigilante heroes! This new perspective offers tantalizing glimpses into All Might during his prime years – a period that has always been shrouded in mystery and reverence within the series. Prime All Might is like a mythical figure, adding yet another layer to the already awe-inspiring power of our number one Pro Hero, making him even more iconic!

In the chronology of events depicted in “My Hero Academia,” what was the strength level of the eighth bearer of One For All during Koichi Haimawari’s stint as a vigilante? Compared to his strength in the initial narrative continuity, how much more powerful is he within this series?

Or, simplified: How strong was the eighth user of One For All when Koichi Haimawari was a vigilante? How much stronger has he become compared to the original storyline?

Prime All Might’s Appearance In Vigilantes

There’s a Reason All For One Is in Hiding

To start with the first installment of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, All Might momentarily shows up, delivering a punch to defeat a villain, giving viewers an initial feel of the series. In the comic version, he recurs periodically across the narrative and is highlighted in flashbacks that offer glimpses into All Might during his peak years.

In the thrilling world of “My Hero Academia,” I find myself immersed in the spin-off series, “Vigilantes.” Although it’s not explicitly mentioned, it feels like this story unfolds just a few years before the main saga begins. Characters such as Shota Aizawa and Tensei Ida appear to be of similar age, suggesting they were around during those early days.

Interestingly, we catch glimpses of All Might in his leaner form, hinting at a past battle that has already taken place – the fateful confrontation with All For One, a battle All Might later reveals happened five years before he crossed paths with Deku in the main series. This suggests that the events in “My Hero Academia: Vigilantes” could very well have occurred during or around that timeframe. It’s an exciting thought, isn’t it? Exploring the world of “My Hero Academia” before its official start!

Ugh, it’s pretty disgusting, isn’t it? I received this injury during a severe battle five years ago. My respiratory system was severely damaged as a result, and I ended up losing my entire stomach. After multiple surgeries, I’m just about tapped out. Unfortunately, there’s no way to repair the damage. At the moment, I can only work like a hero for around three hours a day.” – All Might explaining his condition to Izuku Midoriya in Episode 2

In the Vigilantes manhwa, it’s plausible that All Might is significantly stronger compared to his portrayal in the main series. This is likely due to the reduced impact of his time limit constraint. During Chapters 92 and 93, we witness a flashback from seven years ago where All Might, as a hero, was able to sustain his powers for more than 72 hours straight and still had enough energy left to swiftly overpower over a hundred villains whose abilities were amplified by All For One.

In a remarkable display, All Might yet again met our expectations, swiftly subduing numerous villains within moments. Regrettably, this impressive feat didn’t buy us much time at all.

All For One: Wrong. It bought us three seconds.

A glimpse into All Might’s powers during his peak is awe-inspiring, demonstrating his vast abilities by revealing his capability to traverse Japan swiftly to address any potential crisis, regardless of its complexity. Not only does All Might exhibit immense power, but he also doesn’t hesitate to perform modest acts of heroism. In a series of panels, we witness him performing several acts of kindness simultaneously due to his incredible speed, such as saving a charming little duck and its offspring from danger on a busy street.

How He Deals With His Injury While Still Performing Hero Work

As a passionate fan of the “Vigilantes” timeline, I can’t help but notice how All Might appears to be operating at a level closer to his peak than we see in the main series. It’s uncertain if the time constraint and his injuries are hampering his heroic duties, but one thing is clear – he’s still zipping across Japan from city to city, even managing to make an unexpected detour to Okinawa in Chapter 37, which kept Tsukauchi waiting. Quite impressive, if you ask me!

One indication that All Might may be operating at his peak in the Vigilantes series is that he doesn’t seem to suffer significant ill effects from frequently shifting into his muscular form. In a bonus manga chapter, we see him transforming repeatedly to handle various incidents while meeting with Detective Naomasa Tsukauchi. Despite this, he often has to excuse himself from their café meetings to attend to these incidents, and only a little blood is spilled due to the shock of his secret being revealed by the detective. While All Might’s appearances are relatively scarce in the series, it’s intriguing to observe him carrying out heroic duties at levels consistent with those highlighted during the initial storyline.

My Hero Academia can be streamed on Crunchyroll and Hulu.
