Well, I reckon ol’ Shigaraki ain’t just your average baddie we see on TV. He’s got this dark past that he’s been hiding under all that cold-hearted exterior, and it seems like he’s been struggling to deal with it for a long time.
Tomura Shigaraki has encountered numerous strong heroes and villains throughout his lifetime, but All-For-One (AFO), the notorious evil overlord, stands out among them. Notably, apart from their primary adversaries (All Might and Deku), both villains have been deeply influenced by a single hero – the powerful Star and Stripe, America’s top hero.
At the point when AFO crossed paths with Star and Stripe, it was during the time he occupied Shigaraki’s body. During this period, the identities of AFO and Shigaraki began to blur together gradually. However, since AFO’s consciousness hadn’t completely taken over Shigaraki at that point, their thoughts were somewhat disorganized when they encountered Star and Stripe. Despite the confusion, the fleeting interaction with the strongest hero from the United States made a profound impact on Shigaraki/AFO for several reasons.
New Order
Prior to proceeding any further, let’s discuss an unusual trait that Star and Stripe share, which they call the New Order. This unique characteristic grants Star the ability to establish a new set of rules for anything she physically interacts with. Whether it’s living creatures, nuclear missiles, or even the atmosphere around her, she can alter their properties at will.
In her battle against Shigaraki, Star manipulated the surroundings by generating a vacuum around him, sculpting the air into a towering version of herself, and merging intense laser beams into a gigantic spear. Truly, her ability is incredibly powerful! It wouldn’t be an understatement to label New Order as one of the mightiest quirks globally.
All-For-One Backfired for the First Time
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but express my excitement about Shigaraki’s relentless pursuit of the extraordinary and powerful quirk known as New Order. From the get-go, his intention wasn’t to defeat Starr, but rather to snatch the New Order from her. Remarkably, he succeeds in achieving this goal, yet it swiftly turns into a heavy blow for him.
Stealing New Order
Due to his extraordinary ability to heal rapidly, Shigaraki has gained an indestructible nature. Not even the joint force of Star’s power and the United States’ most advanced long-range missiles can bring him down. Whatever projectiles or attacks Star attempts against Shigaraki, he consistently recovers and continues to fight back until eventually, he manages to make contact with Star’s face.
By taking action against Star, I’m not just snatching the New Order from her grasp; simultaneously, I ignite my decay ability. In a blink of an eye, Star and Stripe crumble to nothingness, while I seize one of the most potent quirks in existence.
A Quirk Revolts
After obtaining Star’s New Order, Shigaraki believed he was invincible, but that turned out to be a grave miscalculation. Just as he seized the New Order from Star, she implemented a brand-new rule for her quirk – and it was “Rebellion”.
“Since there wasn’t enough time to destroy him with your aircraft, I swiftly established a new regulation just in time. The New Rule: Suppress any rebellions against unusual behaviors!”

Permanent Damages
As a devout admirer, I can’t help but reflect on the irony of Shigaraki receiving such an impressive ability like New Order. Regrettably for him, it has evolved into one of his greatest regrets. Due to Star’s final command, New Order transforms into a ravenous quirk that indiscriminately devours other powers.
Quirks Eat Quirks
When New Order takes over Shigaraki’s body, it immediately rebels against me. This rebellion leaves me powerless to harness New Order and, even worse, this rogue quirk starts devouring other quirks in my collection like a wild animal let loose upon its prey. In mere moments, countless quirks vanish from my reserves, leaving me without their abilities.
The relentless New Order devours any oddities it encounters and has now set its sights on Shigaraki’s unique ability, All-For-One. If New Order consumes All-For-One, Shigaraki will essentially disappear. However, All-For-One can only take and grant quirks; it cannot obliterate a quirk that is already within its user. Thus, if Shigaraki wishes to persist, he must swiftly find someone and transfer the New Order ability to them.
Severe Physical Damages
As I’ve been shedding the unique traits I’ve gathered over time, I’m experiencing unbearable bodily agony. When I absorb a new trait from New Order, it feels like something inside me shatters. This means that during the brief period this trait rebels, my body seems to be collapsing in several spots simultaneously.
Despite his extraordinary regenerative abilities, this degree of injury proves untenable. It leaves him incapable of combat, motionless, and clouded in thought, which makes him a sitting duck for the multitude seeking to end his life. This predicament further fuels his desperate search for someone, anyone, to inherit Star’s cursed quirk.
Open Up a Path To Shigaraki’s Heart
Beyond shedding irreplaceable peculiarities and enduring intense bodily agony, Shigaraki also unknowingly incurs another significant injury as a result of the New Order’s rebellion. When the New Order causes chaos inside Shigaraki’s body, it unwittingly exposes a route to something that the villain had kept hidden within his heart.
Buried Deep Within the Villain’s Heart
Izuku Midoriya often feels that beneath Shigaraki’s harsh and ruthless demeanor, there resides a troubled and lonely child in need of compassion. Initially, this idea may appear far-fetched, but it is indeed true. Beneath his cold and violent facade lies a scared and sorrowful youngster who experienced a traumatic upbringing. This vulnerable aspect of him can be appealed to through understanding.
Shigaraki intentionally hid this aspect of himself to become the ultimate villain, and only Midoriya knows about the child within him, but can’t reach that part of his heart. Luckily, when New Order goes on a destructive spree, it unintentionally creates a tiny opening into Shigaraki’s deep emotional core, revealing the sad, hidden boy inside.
Destroy the Enemy From Within
Approaching Shigaraki’s troubled psyche could appear as a hopeless task. However, this isn’t true when it comes to Shigaraki. This is because there are two minds residing within his body – Tomura Shigaraki and All-For-One. While All-For-One maintains control over Shigaraki’s consciousness, the situation remains precarious. A slight nudge in the right direction could easily set off a chain reaction.
In the uprising led by Star’s New Order, they manage to create an opportunity and loosen AFO’s control over Shigaraki’s emotions. Therefore, Deku must figure out a method to access this small opening and destroy Shigaraki internally, which is exactly what he accomplishes at the conclusion of the series.
All Might’s Echo
Beyond the harm inflicted by the New Order, there’s another reason why Star and Stripe leave a lasting impact on Shigaraki. AFO harbors intense hatred towards All Might, not just because he was severely defeated by the previous No. 1 Hero, but also because he deeply resents everything that All Might represents.
After all, I thought old man All Might was no longer the formidable foe he once was. But boy, was I wrong! Just when AFO thought he’d shaken off his arch-nemesis, out of nowhere comes Star and Stripe – a hero who admires All Might to the core, mirroring his every move. And guess what? He showed up right in front of AFO, ready to foil his plans!
In AFO’s eyes, it seems like no matter what he does, he can’t get away from All Might. This symbol of justice will always be a thorn in his side. If it’s not him, then his echoes will continue to do so. This fact annoys him so much. Even beyond the damage caused by New Order, the fact that he can’t get away from All Might irritates him to no end. This feeling of frustration is enough to drive him insane. So along with the damage caused by New Order, this is also another big reason why Star and Stripe leave such a big impression on Shigarakai.
“So long as there’s someone who recalls All Might’s foolish expression, I’ll continue to suffer this endless torment!” or
