This article contains spoilers from My Hero Academia: Vigilantes.
The anime series My Hero Academia has finished telling the story of Izuku Midoriya’s path to becoming a hero with the end of its final season. Deku managed to save the world from All For One and Tomura Shigaraki, though it meant sacrificing his Quirk, One For All. Even without his powers, Deku is still a capable hero, using his fighting skills and experience alongside new mechanical armor.
With the start of the winter anime season in 2026, My Hero Academia will return with season 2 of MHA: Vigilantes. This season will focus on Koichi Haimawari, not Deku. Koichi actually made a brief appearance after Deku’s big fight with the villains, leading fans to wonder if Deku will appear in MHA: Vigilantes as well.
Izuku Midoriya Is Not Involved in MHA: Vigilantes
Deku Is Still a Child During MHA: Vigilantes
Image by Rei Penber/Game Rant Season 2 of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes will premiere in winter 2026, not long after the main My Hero Academia series ends. This prequel series follows Koichi Haimawari, a college student who enjoys being a hero despite not having an official license. Unlike the original series, which centers on Deku, Vigilantes focuses on Koichi as he uses his ‘Slide and Glide’ quirk to complete hero-related tasks.
Many fans are wondering if Izuku Midoriya (Deku) might appear in the series MHA: Vigilantes. Now that Deku’s main story has finished, people are checking the trailers for Season 2 to see if he makes a cameo. However, because Vigilantes takes place five to six years before Deku starts attending U.A. High School, he won’t be appearing in the series for the time being.
If you’re a fan of My Hero Academia and looking for more adventures with Izuku Midoriya (Deku), it’s best to rewatch the earlier seasons of the main series. My Hero Academia: Vigilantes focuses on a different hero, Koichi Haimawari, and his work as a vigilante, along with characters like Pop Step and Knuckleduster. While you’ll see some familiar faces, Deku won’t be a part of this story.
MHA: Vigilantes Removed Izuku Midoriya’s Cameo
The Subtle Ways Deku Exists in MHA: Vigilantes
Because My Hero Academia: Vigilantes takes place in the same world as My Hero Academia, fans have noticed connections between the two stories, including a link to Deku. In the first episode of the Vigilantes anime, Koichi helps a young Inko Midoriya, Deku’s mother, when she gets lost and gives her directions while on patrol.
Adding to the excitement, the audio drama for My Hero Academia: Vigilantes is narrated by Daiki Yamashita, who also voices Izuku Midoriya in the main series. Plus, promotional materials for Vigilantes frequently feature Deku. He even makes appearances within the manga itself, often participating in discussions about vigilantism with other characters and professional heroes.
If my actions can save any of them…then I’ve got to do something.—Izuku Midoriya
Sadly, Deku’s planned appearance in Chapter 3 of the My Hero Academia: Vigilantes manga didn’t happen in the first season of the anime. He was originally going to be shown with All Might, but the scene was cut, probably to keep the episode’s pace smooth and the story clear. Showing Deku too early in Vigilantes could have confused viewers about the timeline. However, this scene might still be added to the anime in future seasons.
Deku Could Still Appear in MHA: Vigilantes
Deku’s Possible Appearance May Not Be What Fans Expect
Since Deku is the main character of My Hero Academia, there’s a chance he could make a brief appearance in MHA: Vigilantes. Similar to Koichi, this would be a fun surprise for fans eager to see him.
I’m really excited about the possibility of Deku showing up in My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, but honestly, it might be a pretty small role. Since he wasn’t involved in the story’s events, I’m guessing he’ll likely just be a face in the crowd, maybe watching Koichi and the other vigilantes do their thing. They could even show him at home, you know, chilling and rewatching his favorite All Might footage! So, while it’d be awesome to see him, let’s not get our hopes up for a huge appearance.
