My Hero Academia’s Successor Has Officially Been Decided, And It Has Even Greater Potential

When discussing popular manga and anime, *My Hero Academia* is a title that always comes up. It has become one of the best-selling manga series of all time, and rightfully so. Horikoshi’s story drew in millions of fans with its memorable characters, but the series unfortunately concluded last year. While many fans anticipated the ending, it was still difficult to say goodbye.

Good news for fans of *My Hero Academia*! It looks like a new series, *Ichi the Witch*, recommended by creator Kohei Horikoshi, could be a spiritual successor to the beloved manga. Plus, Horikoshi is also working on his own brand new manga that might continue the themes and spirit of *My Hero Academia*.

Ichi The Witch Is MHA’s Successor

  • A New Manga That Started After MHA Ended
  • A Manga That Was Recommended by Horikoshi

Watching the end of *My Hero Academia* in 2024 felt like a big shift for Shonen Jump, especially since *Jujutsu Kaisen* finished around the same time. With those two powerhouses gone, a lot of new series started vying for attention, and *Ichi the Witch* really stood out. It launched just a month after *MHA* wrapped, in September 2024, and quickly gained traction. It got a huge boost when Kohei Horikoshi, the creator of *My Hero Academia*, actually recommended it to his fans – that’s a big deal, because new manga can easily get cancelled within their first year. Horikoshi’s support really helped *Ichi the Witch* take off, and now it’s become one of Shonen Jump’s biggest successes, even without an anime adaptation yet.

Although *My Hero Academia* and *Ichi the Witch* take place in completely different settings, both series feature charming characters and a delightful world and storyline. *Ichi the Witch* is already gaining a following among *My Hero Academia* fans, and its popularity will likely increase even more when it gets an anime adaptation – which seems very likely given its current success. It has the potential to become the next big hit like *My Hero Academia*.

MHA Will Also Have Another Successor And It’s Horikoshi’s New Manga

A New Story Separate From MHA

Lots of fans of *My Hero Academia* are enjoying the weekly releases of *Ichi the Witch*, but since it’s not created by Horikoshi, it may not be able to fully replace *MHA* for many readers.

It looks like *My Hero Academia* is finished for now, and probably won’t be continuing anytime soon. Everything for the series seems to be wrapped up in the recently released fan book, art book, and the art exhibition created by Horikoshi. But there’s good news for fans: Horikoshi is planning a brand new manga! It might be the closest we get to something like a continuation of *MHA*. He’s confirmed he wants to create this new series, and while it won’t be *exactly* the same, it will definitely have his signature style with his writing and artwork.

I’m still not sure when Horikoshi will release his next manga, and it might be a while before he’s back working in the industry. But I know a lot of fans, myself included, will be eagerly awaiting his return.

Question: Are you considering doing another manga?

I’m really excited to share that I’m already deep into developing my next project! The best part is, there’s something I’ve always wanted to explore creatively that I couldn’t quite fit into *My Hero Academia*, and I’m pouring all that energy into this new series. Honestly, my biggest hope is to launch it in *Weekly Shonen Jump* – I’m really aiming to challenge myself and see if I can capture that magic one more time. So, I’m currently brainstorming and working hard on the core concept!

Fans can continue to enjoy ‘Ichi the Witch,’ which offers a captivating world of unique characters and special abilities similar to those found in ‘My Hero Academia.’

The My Hero Academia manga has finished its run, with a total of 431 chapters available to read on Manga Plus. While the manga is complete, the anime is still ongoing and its final season is expected to premiere later this year on Crunchyroll.
