The Fourth Great Ninja War was the most devastating conflict in the world of Naruto. It began with an alliance between Obito Uchiha and Kabuto Yakushi, drawing many powerful ninja into battle. For the first time, all the ninja villages united, with their strongest warriors fighting together against Akatsuki and Kabuto. As the largest war in the Naruto series, it featured an incredible roster of powerful ninja, some of whom achieved immense, almost god-like power.
Kabuto Yakushi

Kabuto Yakushi was a remarkably powerful ninja during the war, largely because he’d mastered and enhanced all of Orochimaru’s abilities. Using the Edo Tensei technique, he was a formidable opponent to almost the entire Shinobi Alliance. In terms of raw strength, he could go toe-to-toe with Itachi Uchiha, and even sometimes gain the upper hand.
Kabuto’s Snake Sage Mode made him a formidable and powerful fighter. However, even with that incredible ability, Itachi ultimately managed to defeat him.
Itachi Uchiha
- Affiliation: Shinobi Alliance
Itachi Uchiha is widely considered one of the strongest ninjas of all time, and the Fourth Great Ninja War truly showcased his abilities. When he was revived by Kabuto Yakushi, Itachi quickly broke free from Kabuto’s control using a powerful genjutsu. He then decisively defeated Kabuto, permanently ending the Edo Tensei reanimation technique. While Itachi was weakened by illness during his life, being resurrected through Edo Tensei restored him to full health, allowing him to even fight effectively against Naruto Uzumaki while Naruto was using his Nine-Tails Chakra Mode.
Furthermore, Itachi easily defeated Kabuto Yakushi in battle. Even though he knew defeating Kabuto wouldn’t end the Edo Tensei technique, Itachi managed to force him to undo it completely. During the war, Itachi also successfully fought against Nagato Uzumaki, proving he was one of the strongest ninja around.
Minato Namikaze

Minato Namikaze, the Fourth Hokage, joined the fight near the end and quickly proved his incredible skill. He was already an exceptionally powerful ninja, comparable to the First Hokage, but accessing the power of the Nine-Tailed Fox’s chakra significantly increased his abilities.
Minato became incredibly powerful, easily ranking among the strongest ninjas present. He was always known for his speed, but now his attacks were even more devastating, making him a huge help to the Shinobi Alliance.
Hashirama Senju
- Affiliation: Shinobi Alliance
Hashirama Senju rushed back into the fight and quickly battled Madara Uchiha. Having regained most of his strength, Hashirama was able to control the Ten-Tails without much difficulty.
Hashirama battled Madara and initially held the upper hand for a considerable time. However, once Madara fully regained the power of his Rinnegan, he defeated Hashirama. Despite this, Hashirama remained one of the most powerful ninjas, surpassed by only a few others by the end of his career.
Obito Uchiha
- Affiliation: Akatsuki (Formerly), Shinobi Alliance
During the Fourth Great Ninja War, Obito Uchiha initially wielded both the Mangekyo Sharingan and the Rinnegan, making his development fascinating to watch. Later in the war, he became the host of the Ten-Tails, significantly increasing his power.
Obito’s power vastly exceeded even the combined strength of the Hokage and the entire Shinobi Alliance, who barely managed to fight him. He wasn’t defeated by force, but by his own inner turmoil and unstable mental state. Without those internal issues, he would have been nearly unbeatable, highlighting just how formidable he was in combat.
Might Guy
- Affiliation: Shinobi Alliance
Almost no one thought Might Guy would become so powerful during the Fourth Great Ninja War. However, by opening all Eight Inner Gates, he was able to fight on equal footing with Madara, even though Madara was the host of the Ten Tails. Guy completely overpowered Madara during their battle, and his ultimate move, Night Guy, was so strong it actually warped the space around him.
Guy’s final attack almost killed Madara, even though Madara was incredibly powerful, like a god. If it weren’t for the Truth Seeking Orbs and the unique energy they provided, Madara would have definitely been killed.
Madara Uchiha
- Affiliation: Akatsuki Alliance
Madara Uchiha was undeniably one of the most powerful ninjas during the Fourth Great Ninja War. He was a formidable opponent even without using any special abilities, but became even more dangerous after sealing the Ten Tails within himself. Becoming the perfect host for the Ten Tails made Madara stronger than Obito Uchiha. He then gained even more power by absorbing the God Tree, unlocking the Rinne Sharingan and becoming the dominant force on the battlefield for a long period.
Madara was an incredibly powerful warrior, and few could defeat him in combat. Ultimately, he was betrayed and killed by Black Zetsu, who then used his body to revive Kaguya Otsutsuki.
Kakashi Hatake (DMS)
- Affiliation: Shinobi Alliance
Kakashi’s contributions during the Fourth Great Ninja War are often overlooked, particularly after he gained the incredible power of Six Paths Chakra and the Double Mangekyo Sharingan. Although this enhanced state didn’t last long, it made him significantly more powerful than almost all other ninjas fighting in the war.
Using the immense power of Six Paths Chakra, Kakashi could summon a full-body Susanoo strong enough to challenge even Kaguya. This drastically increased his strength and speed, allowing him to injure her with a powerful, chakra-enhanced Chidori. Kakashi played a crucial role in sealing Kaguya away, and the war likely would have been lost without his contributions.
Sasuke Uchiha
- Affiliation: Shinobi Alliance
During the Fourth Great Ninja War, Sasuke Uchiha became incredibly powerful, largely thanks to an encounter with Hagoromo Otsutsuki, who gave him a portion of his chakra. This allowed Sasuke to awaken the Rinnegan in his left eye, and he quickly learned to use its abilities. By the time he fought Naruto, Sasuke had mastered the Rinnegan, which was evident in their battle.
Sasuke’s power was immense, even before he fully developed his Rinnegan. He became strong enough to easily defeat Madara Uchiha, showcasing his incredible potential. During his fight with Naruto, he managed to control all nine Tailed Beasts, taking their power for himself and becoming arguably the strongest ninja. There’s no doubt Sasuke was a formidable force and one of the most powerful fighters in the Fourth Great Ninja War.
Naruto Uzumaki
- Affiliation: Shinobi Alliance
During the Fourth Great Ninja War, Naruto Uzumaki clearly stood out as the most powerful ninja. He not only gained complete control over the power of the Nine-Tailed Fox, Kurama, but also formed connections with all the other Tailed Beasts. Receiving powers from the Sage of Six Paths, Naruto combined these with his mastery of the Tailed Beasts to unlock the incredibly potent Six Paths Sage Mode.
Naruto’s incredible power allowed him to defeat even the strongest opponents, including Madara and Kaguya Otsutsuki, multiple times. Even with Sasuke using the power of the Tailed Beasts, Naruto was able to match and ultimately overpower him. There’s no doubt that Naruto was the most powerful ninja in the war.
