Naruto: 6 Strongest Characters Sasuke Never Fought

Throughout its many episodes, the anime Naruto featured countless battles for its central characters. Naruto Uzumaki fought a wide range of opponents, starting with enemies like Zabuza and Neji, and later facing powerful threats such as the Six Paths of Pain and Obito Uchiha. Naruto’s rival, Sasuke Uchiha, also battled numerous foes, including some of the same ones as Naruto, like Kaguya Otsutsuki and Gaara.

Sasuke clashed with powerful opponents like Killer Bee and Mei Terumi, but there were several strong shinobi he never truly fought. He obviously didn’t battle anyone who was already deceased, like Hashirama Senju, but many living fighters never faced him in combat. This has led fans of Naruto to speculate about how those battles might have unfolded, or to wonder why Sasuke never crossed paths with them on the battlefield.

Jiraiya Didn’t Fight His Student’s Friend Turned Enemy

The Toad Sage Probably Would Have Beaten Sasuke

As a huge fan of the Sannin, it’s always struck me how Sasuke’s ‘fights’ with them were…unique. He technically battled Orochimaru, but it wasn’t much of a fight at all! Orochimaru was already weakened, and Sasuke basically just ambushed him to sever their connection. The really interesting part is, he never really fought Jiraiya or Tsunade, even though Jiraiya was supposed to be his enemy! He didn’t even exchange a single blow with either of them, which is pretty wild when you think about it.

Considering Sasuke’s dislike for Naruto, Jiraiya’s student, and the Hidden Leaf Village, many viewers of Naruto Shippuden probably anticipated a battle between them. However, it never happened. Throughout most of the Naruto series, Jiraiya would have likely defeated Sasuke, thanks to his years of experience and strong abilities like Sage Mode and summoning Gamabunta. If the fight had occurred later in the series, when Sasuke was at his peak, he might have had a better chance.

Kisame Hoshigaki Didn’t Seriously Fight the Uchiha Brothers

Kisame Could Counter Sasuke the Same Way He Could Have Negated Itachi

Sasuke fought several members of the Akatsuki, most notably his brother Itachi. He had a final battle with Deidara, but never fought Kisame Hoshigaki. A fight with Kisame would have been incredibly difficult for Sasuke, regardless of the outcome, because Kisame possessed immense power, being a jinchuriki without a tailed beast.

Kisame is a specialist in countering ninja techniques, making him a perfect match as Itachi’s teammate. His sword, Samehada, can absorb chakra, effectively neutralizing attacks from opponents who rely heavily on jutsu, like the Uchiha brothers. Techniques such as the Sharingan, Chidori, and Fireball Jutsu aren’t very effective against him. While Sasuke is physically stronger than Itachi, Kisame still has a significant advantage due to his incredible strength, resilience, and chakra levels.

Tsunade Was Sasuke’s Enemy But Never Seriously Fought Him

Eventually, Sasuke and Tsunade Shared an Enemy in Kaguya Otsutsuki

Sasuke has battled several high-ranking leaders – including the Raikage, Tsuchikage, and Mizukage – but he’s never had a full-scale fight with a Hokage. Because of this, fans of Naruto are still curious about how a serious duel between Sasuke and Tsunade, the famed Sannin who became Hokage, would play out. While Tsunade and Sasuke were technically on opposing sides, along with Jiraiya, it never led to a major confrontation.

Predicting the winner of a fight between Sasuke and Tsunade is difficult. Sasuke has powerful abilities like the Mangekyo Sharingan and Chidori, but Tsunade is a master of medical ninjutsu, can summon Katsuyu, and has years of experience using chakra to boost her hand-to-hand combat. Depending on when in the Naruto series you ask, Tsunade might have won easily. Luckily, they never actually fought.

Might Guy Would Love the Challenge of Fighting Sasuke

Might Guy’s Taijutsu Rivals Anything Sasuke Can Muster

Fans of Naruto often point to the intense fight between Gaara and Rock Lee during the Chunin Exams as a classic example of natural talent facing off against relentless hard work. Many would love to see similar battles, and while Might Guy’s fights were exciting, a showdown between Might Guy and Sasuke would have been even more spectacular.

Sasuke is skilled in hand-to-hand combat, even copying moves from Rock Lee during the Chunin Exams, but he truly excels at ninjutsu and genjutsu, utilizing techniques like Chidori and Susanoo. This presents a significant challenge for Might Guy, who is a far more advanced taijutsu user than Rock Lee. By opening increasingly powerful Gates, Might Guy could force Sasuke to fight at his absolute best, pushing him to rely on all his intelligence and strategy just to survive.

The Six Paths of Pain Fought Naruto and Jiraiya, But Not Sasuke

This Would Be an Incredible Dojutsu Showdown to See

Both Naruto and his teacher Jiraiya fought against the Six Paths of Pain, and Naruto was ultimately the one who defeated him. Pain was a formidable opponent, possessing a wide range of abilities and the powerful Rinnegan, which was comparable to the Sharingan and surpassed the Byakugan. Naruto also had to overcome Pain’s ability to absorb attacks, a skill similar to that of the Samehada.

The Six Paths of Pain were a seriously dangerous opponent, even for a skilled ninja like Sasuke Uchiha, who is known for being more cunning than Naruto. Naruto himself needed assistance to defeat Pain, and fans know Sasuke prefers to handle things on his own. While Sasuke’s strongest techniques would be challenged, his Sharingan ability would offer a crucial advantage in trying to find a way to win.

Hiruzen Sarutobi Could School Sasuke With New Jutsu

The Professor of Jutsu Can Handle Sannin-Level Threats

Sasuke never battled Hiruzen Sarutobi, primarily because Sasuke was a loyal member of the Hidden Leaf Village throughout Hiruzen’s life. He only sought revenge after Hiruzen was killed by Orochimaru. Despite his age, Hiruzen remained a powerful ninja, even compared to those in the later Naruto Shippuden series, thanks to his years of experience and the wide range of techniques he mastered.

Hiruzen Sarutobi earned the nickname “Professor of Jutsu” for a reason, and he would have demonstrated why if he’d lived to see the era of Naruto Shippuden and Sasuke’s turn to darkness. From the Five Kage Summit Arc onward, Sasuke was powerful enough to likely win in a fight against Hiruzen, though defeating the ‘Professor’ Hokage wouldn’t have been a simple or swift task.
