Naruto: 7 Characters Who Became Jonin After The Ninja War

I’ve noticed a huge shift in the ninja world since the Fourth Great Ninja War. It seems like a lot of Naruto’s peers really came into their own and became much more powerful afterward – they definitely leveled up their skills during that time.

Before the war, most of Naruto’s ninja peers were still relatively low-ranking, either Genin or Chunin. After the war, many of them trained incredibly hard and eventually became Jonin. While not everyone reached that level, some dedicated themselves more than others and achieved significant recognition.

Rock Lee

Rock Lee, a member of Team Guy, is one of Konoha’s most powerful ninjas. He was already stronger than most elite Jonin during the Fourth Great Ninja War, able to open six of the Eight Gates. But after the war, Lee continued to train and eventually mastered all eight Gates, becoming even more powerful than his mentor, Might Guy.

After the war ended, Rock Lee eventually passed the Jonin exams and achieved the rank of Jonin. He’s now one of Konoha’s most powerful Jonin, with abilities that are comparable to most of the Kage in the series.

Sakura Haruno

Sakura Haruno is a highly skilled ninja who eventually became Konoha’s Fifth Hokage, following in the footsteps of Tsunade Senju. She’s an expert in medical ninjutsu and a powerful fighter. Sakura actually exceeded Tsunade’s abilities in combat, and she’s also a more strategic thinker, making her a remarkably capable ninja.

It’s no surprise that Sakura has become a Jonin. She proved herself a capable Chunin during the time jump in the original Naruto series, and dedicated herself to intense training after the war. Now, she’s a highly respected ninja in Konoha, with an impact that rivals even the Hokage, and impressive abilities to match. While it’s a shame she doesn’t have a bigger role in the Boruto series, Sakura remains one of Konoha’s most valuable assets.

Sai

Sai used to work as an ANBU ninja under Danzo Shimura, but after Danzo’s death, he was able to fully commit to protecting Konoha. Now, Sai is a highly skilled and experienced ninja, considered one of the village’s strongest.

I watched Sai take the Jonin exam after the war, and he absolutely crushed it. He’s become a really prominent figure in the Boruto series, especially since he now heads up the village’s investigation and intelligence teams. As an adult, Sai is seriously powerful; while we haven’t seen everything he can do yet, everyone knows he’s someone you can rely on in a fight.

Shikamaru Nara

Shikamaru Nara currently leads the Nara Clan and serves as the acting Hokage when Naruto is away. He was always destined to become a strong leader, and he achieved that goal after the Fourth Great Ninja War. Though he was a Chunin during the Naruto Shippuden series, he rightfully advanced in rank after the war, becoming a highly skilled and powerful Jonin of the village.

Following the apparent death of Naruto Uzumaki, Shikamaru was promoted to a Kage of the village, though he hasn’t officially accepted the role long-term.

Shino Aburame

Shino used to be on Team 8 with Kurenai Yuhi, but he was often overlooked as a ninja. He’s actually a very strong fighter because of his unique ability to control insects. Even though he doesn’t get a lot of focus in the story, Shino consistently stands out, which makes him a truly special character.

Honestly, after the Fourth Great Ninja War, I don’t think many of us predicted just how strong Shino would become! He really stepped up and earned his place as a respected Jonin in the village. It’s awesome to see him also teaching at the Academy, shaping the next generation of ninja. Even though he doesn’t have a huge role in the Boruto series yet, it’s clear he’s incredibly valuable to Konoha – not just as a powerful fighter, but as someone who’s passing on important lessons and values to the future.

Hanabi Hyuga

Hanabi Yuga is considered an exceptionally gifted ninja from the Hyuga Clan, often compared to Neji in terms of skill. Unlike her sister Hinata, who struggled with her abilities, Hanabi quickly developed impressive strength and became a powerful fighter.

Although we don’t see Hanabi’s development throughout the original Naruto series, she’s become one of the strongest Jonin in the village by the time of Boruto. She has the Byakugan and has mastered it so completely that she’s considered a true prodigy. While her full potential is still unknown, hopefully future episodes of Boruto will explore her character more and demonstrate why she’s such a powerful ninja.

Konohamaru Sarutobi

Konohamaru Nara is the grandson of the Third Hokage and a student of the current Hokage, Naruto Uzumaki. He hopes to one day become Hokage himself, and as a first step towards that goal, he’s working to become a Jonin—an elite, experienced ninja.

After the Fourth Great Ninja War, Konohamaru became a highly skilled Jonin and eventually led Team 7, consisting of Mitsuki, Sarada, and Boruto Uzumaki. He’s an incredibly powerful ninja, mastering techniques like Fire and Wind Release, and is considered one of the strongest Jonin of his generation. While the Boruto series hasn’t fully showcased his abilities, Konohamaru remains a formidable and talented ninja within the Hidden Leaf Village.
