As a long-time fan of the Naruto universe, I must say that the characters have grown on me over the years, much like how Naruto himself evolved from a mischievous ninja-wannabe to the Hokage of Konoha. It’s fascinating to see how each character, from the eponymous protagonist Naruto Uzumaki to the stoic Kakashi Hatake, has their own unique journey and growth throughout the series.
Naruto stands out as one of the most impressive shonen series ever made, captivating countless readers with Masashi Kishimoto’s skillful world creation and character development. The series offers an abundance of thrilling scenes that keep fans on the edge of their seats, immersing them in a richly detailed ninja universe brimming with intense battles.
The strength of the characters in Naruto makes it impossible for viewers not to feel strongly about them, whether they’re cheering them on or secretly wishing them ill. Many beloved Naruto characters are given significant screen time to emphasize their significance.
8. Hinata Hyuga
Ends Up With Naruto After The Two Slowly Come To Terms With Their Feelings
- Debut:Enter: Naruto Uzumaki! (Episode 1 of Naruto)
Hinata, a character with feelings for Naruto, openly displays her crush on him since their first meeting. It’s striking how oblivious Naruto seems to be, not realizing why Hinata becomes so bashful in his presence.
In the thrilling turn of events during the Pain Arc, it was evident that my bond with Naruto would bring me back into the limelight sooner rather than later. And indeed, Hinata’s moments to shine did come, culminating in her tying the knot with the one I adore and starting a beautiful family, which we get glimpses of in Boruto.
7. Kurama
Naruto’s Nine-Tailed Beast Eventually Cooperates With Him After Being Menacing For A Long Time
- Debut:Enter: Naruto Uzumaki! (Episode 1 of Naruto)
The Nine-Tailed Fox is an evil spirit that caused great trouble in Naruto’s life. Due to his association with the Tailed Beast, the boy was often isolated and judged. Frequently, the Tailed Beast would provoke Naruto into breaking the seal it was bound by.
It wasn’t until the War arc that Kurama had an opportunity to stand out and eventually grow fond of Naruto. After joining forces, their synergy, leveraging their combined powers, made them a formidable team, which is why his demise in Boruto is difficult to accept.
6. Shikamaru Nara
The Smartest Character In The Show Who Gets Numerous Opportunities To Shine
- Debut:Enter: Naruto Uzumaki! (Episode 1 of Naruto)
In the series, Shikamaru stands out as one of the most intelligent ninjas, using his brainpower to climb up ranks and become a valuable asset to the Leaf Village, despite being known for his laziness. However, following his mentor’s demise, Shikamaru sheds this characteristic and becomes driven, determined to avenge Asuma by confronting an Akatsuki member rumored to be immortal.
From that point onwards, he transformed into a trustworthy individual who thrived in the spotlight during the War storyline. Following his father’s passing, Shikamaru emerged as the strategic mastermind behind the war efforts and proved himself worthy of being the Hokage’s advisor.
5. Tsunade Senju
The Fifth Hokage Plays A Major Role In The Story After Her Introduction
- Debut:Jiraiya: Naruto’s Potential Disaster! (Episode 83 of Naruto)
In Naruto, Tsunade wasn’t immediately prominent, but her elevation to the position of Fifth Hokage indicated that this Sannin member was destined for a significant role in future events. As anticipated, the Hokage consistently made crucial decisions and worked tirelessly to improve the Leaf Village throughout the series.
It’s unfortunate that Tsunade didn’t win any battles in Naruto, but this doesn’t diminish her significance as a character. She’s a joy to watch due to her straight-forward personality, which resonates with viewers. However, her fondness for alcohol and gambling occasionally tarnishes her image.
4. Sasuke Uchiha
Leaving Konoha Reduces His Screen Time Somewhat, But He Makes Up For It Later On
- Debut:Enter: Naruto Uzumaki! (Episode 1 of Naruto)
In the world of Naruto, Sasuke is an influential figure, driven primarily by a deep-seated hatred. This intense anger allowed him to sever connections effortlessly with Naruto and the Hidden Leaf Village, should it pave his way towards becoming powerful enough to confront Itachi.
This resulted in the character being absent from the series at some stage, but later, Sasuke’s personal journey was given focus in Naruto: Shippuden. This change occurred after he parted ways with Orochimaru and initiated his mission for revenge. Throughout this journey, Sasuke remained resolute on eliminating hatred from the world in a significant way. However, Naruto’s persistent character eventually led him to recognize the right path, transforming Sasuke into an esteemed ninja once more.
3. Sakura Haruno
A Character Who Experiences A Ton Of Growth Throughout The Series
- Debut:Enter: Naruto Uzumaki! (Episode 1 of Naruto)
Sakura’s character development had its highs and lows, featuring prominently in some storylines only to recede later in the hierarchy. Yet, considering her significant role in the group known as Team 7 within the series, it’s understandable that she frequently appeared on-screen.
The show consistently emphasizes that she remains significant throughout, as the talented pupil adopts many of Tsunade’s characteristics to emerge as a skilled ninja capable of matching a formidable opponent like Kaguya. In the end, she found contentment with Sasuke, even though he was often absent.
2. Kakashi Hatake
The Jonin In Charge Of Team 7 Who Is Present In Almost Every Storyline
- Debut:Sasuke and Sakura: Friends or Foes? (Episode 3 of Naruto)
Kakashi, a character from Naruto, is exceptionally renowned and his link with Obito adds depth to the War storyline. Initially appearing aloof as a teacher, he proved his skills to be formidable during the mission in the Land of Waves when he squared off against Zabuza, revealing his true abilities.
It’s understandable why Kakashi was selected as the Sixth Hokage despite no longer possessing his unique Sharingan. The enthusiasm fans exhibit when Kakashi appears on screen, a frequent occurrence that keeps audiences satisfied with his continued involvement in the series, underscores this choice.
1. Naruto Uzumaki
The Eponymous Main Character Who Is A Focal Point Of The Series
- Debut:Enter: Naruto Uzumaki! (Episode 1 of Naruto)
Naruto Uzumaki, a boy once ostracized from the village for an extended period, remained undeterred in his pursuit of becoming the Hokage. Eventually, through sheer determination and resilience, he managed to gain the recognition and acceptance of even those who had long been skeptical of him, including a formidable adversary who was only brought around after being overcome in battle. His journey is one of perseverance and redemption.
Because the series is titled “Naruto” after him, it’s understandable that he starred in the majority of its episodes. The audience finds little to grumble about, as his character, though occasionally dim-witted and annoying, manages to win everyone over by being an underdog worthy of support.
