Summary
- Naruto series features memorable fights with impressive visuals and choreography.
- Some characters like Kiba, Kurenai, and Tenten fade into irrelevance as the series progresses.
- Powerful characters like Anko and Jugo become background characters after their initial arcs.
The anime series “Naruto” continues to captivate fans even years after its initial broadcast, with people still praising Kishimoto’s masterpiece for its enduring appeal and ability to resonate with a whole generation of enthusiasts.
The show skillfully populates the narrative with a multitude of characters, each distinct in their personality and appearance. Yet, as the tale unfolded, certain characters gradually slipped into obscurity, contributing little to the main plot for much of the storyline – a pity.
8. Kiba Inuzuka
After One Fight With Naruto, His Relevance Falls Off A Cliff
- Debut: Enter: Naruto Uzumaki! (Episode 1 of Naruto)
At one point, it was Naruto’s classmates who basked in the limelight. For instance, Kiba participated in an exciting fight with Naruto and made a substantial contribution to the Sasuke Retrieval operation as well.
Following the time jump, he was one of numerous characters let go due to lack of significant impact on the storyline. Regrettably, Kiba’s talents didn’t warrant extensive screen time, despite Akamaru evolving into a formidable beast. It’s unfortunate, but that’s how it went in the series.
7. Kurenai Yuhi
Gets Jobbed By Itachi And Essentially Becomes A Background Character After This Point
- Debut: Sasuke and Sakura: Friends or Foes? (Episode 3 of Naruto)
Spectators had high hopes for Kurenai, considering she was a formidable jonin with expertise in genjutsu. Yet, she failed to demonstrate her skills against Itachi, and it was Kakashi who stepped in just as things were about to get critical. However, even Kakashi suffered psychological trauma due to Itachi’s extraordinary eye powers.
Kurenai had plenty of opportunity to grow as a character, but unfortunately, she didn’t leave a lasting impression. Her relationship with Asuma was an important aspect in “Shippuden,” but it’s disappointing that she didn’t pursue revenge against Hidan and Kakuzu, given her strong motivation to do so.
6. Tenten
For A Weapon Master, It’s Almost Impressive Just How Useless She Is
- Debut: Identify Yourself: Powerful New Rivals (Episode 21 of Naruto)
Tenten, having been trained as a weapons master by the formidable Might Guy, should have been a formidable figure. However, it’s surprising that she’s the least powerful member of her team and the most underwhelming female ninja in the series.
Following my rather unexpected loss against Temari during the qualification matches (an event that was surprisingly left out of the manga), I found myself slipping into the shadows not too long after. Apart from a grueling battle against my clone in the initial Shippuden storyline, there’s little else to speak of regarding my contributions. Truly, it’s a shame to see such potential go unrealized.
5. Ebisu
Easily The Weakest And Most Pathetic Jonin In The Series

- Debut: My Name is Konohamaru! (Episode 2 of Naruto)
The title of Jonin isn’t casually bestowed, making people often wonder about Ebisu’s abilities. Despite his role as the tutor for the Third Hokage’s grandson, fans frequently question his capabilities because he is ridiculed and easily defeated by the weakest form of Naruto.
In the heat of battle, I’ve found that unleashing Naruto’s Sexy Transformation Jutsu in tandem with his Shadow Clone Technique can leave an opponent like Ebisu momentarily incapacitated. It’s a rather awkward spectacle, which seems to be the intent, as it effectively relegates Ebisu to the background, emphasizing his diminishing role within the series.
4. Iruka Umino
Relevant As Naruto’s Mentor, But Not All That Important Otherwise
- Debut: Enter: Naruto Uzumaki! (Episode 1 of Naruto)
Among all the entries, this one is particularly contentious due to Iruka’s significant role in Naruto’s development. Yet, it’s indisputable that Iruka took a backseat as Naruto progressed, eventually outshining his mentor in strength.
In times when Naruto needed a friend to lean on, Iruka certainly provided that support. However, it’s important to note that in battle situations, Iruka wasn’t particularly effective. Despite this, we shouldn’t underestimate his character, as much of their bond was formed before the story began.
3. Anko Mitarashi
Her Importance In The Story Tanks After The Chunin Exams

- Debut: Identify Yourself: Powerful New Rivals (Episode 21 of Naruto)
During the Chunin Exams, Anko emerged as an engaging new character. Discovering that she had eluded the clutches of the sinister Orochimaru heightened her mystique.
Regrettably, following the Chunin Exams and Konoha Crush arc, Anko seemed to lose significance as a character. Her presence in significant scenes diminished significantly, and she often blended into the background as the narrative progressed without her involvement.
2. Ebizo
Chiyo’s Brother, Who Is Way Past His Prime When He Appears

- Debut: The Jinchūriki’s Tears (Episode 9 of Naruto: Shippuden)
In the prestigious Sand Village, Chiyo and Ebizo are two exceptionally renowned ninja, but unlike Chiyo who often demonstrates her abilities, Ebizo remains less prominent.
Speaking as a fervent admirer, while his extraordinary brows are unforgettable, they don’t quite set this character apart in any remarkable way. The poignant moment when he reacts to his sister’s demise is the last instance where Ebizo steals the limelight, before he gradually fades into the backdrop of obscurity once more.
1. Jugo
His Stint With Kara Is The Only Time When Jugo Is Relevant
- Debut: Guardian of the Iron Wall (Episode 116 of Naruto: Shippuden)
The team known as Taka (previously Hebi), within the Naruto universe, is made up of some incredibly skilled and dangerous shinobi. Suigetsu, who has ties to the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, now wields Zabuza’s sword, while Karin’s healing abilities are exceptionally powerful. Her alliance with Sasuke underscores his merciless nature as he inflicts wounds on Karin in an attempt to eliminate Danzo.
Despite Jugo demonstrating immense promise as a fighter capable of entering a frenzy at any time, his impact in the grand scheme is minimal. Excluding some battles where he works with Taka to eliminate Sasuke’s objectives, there isn’t much to discuss about the most insignificant member of Taka’s group.
