Naruto: All Powers And Abilities Of Sasuke Uchiha, Explained

This post contains spoilers for Naruto.

Sasuke Uchiha is a key character in the Naruto series, making him incredibly important to the story. Because of this, the author, Kishimoto, consistently included him in every story arc to help fans understand his motivations. While Naruto focused on connection and friendship, Sasuke was driven by a desire for power, fueled by his need to avenge his family.

Driven by a thirst for power, Sasuke left the Hidden Leaf Village and sought out Orochimaru, who tempted him with the promise of increased strength. Even after spending a couple of years with Orochimaru, Sasuke remained determined to become stronger, ultimately leading him to kill his mentor and set off in pursuit of his brother, Itachi Uchiha.

Sasuke Uchiha’s Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan

  • Sasuke has a wide array of abilities
  • Sasuke is only second to Naruto in terms of strength

Being part of the powerful Uchiha clan, Sasuke naturally possesses an incredibly strong Sharingan. He developed the standard Sharingan at a young age and used it in nearly every battle. After witnessing Itachi’s death, he unlocked the Mangekyou Sharingan. However, instead of having two distinct abilities like his brother, Sasuke’s Mangekyou manifested as Amaterasu in one eye and the power to control those flames with the other. This gave him greater mastery over Amaterasu, letting him mold the black flames into any shape he wanted.

  • Sasuke frequently infused Amaterasu’s black flames onto thrown weapons or objects. When these made impact, they caused significant damage.

Sasuke understood that using his Mangekyou Sharingan too much would eventually blind him. To avoid this, he asked Obito to transplant Itachi’s eyes into his own, granting him the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan – a feat only one other Uchiha had achieved. With his new eyes, Sasuke could use his special Sharingan abilities without risking his sight.

Sasuke’s Susanoo Gave Him Absolute Defense

Because Sasuke had awakened the Mangekyou Sharingan in both eyes, he could summon the incredibly powerful Susanoo. Though his Susanoo didn’t have special weapons like the Yata Mirror or Totsuka Blade, its raw strength was enough to level mountains. Beyond its offensive power, the Susanoo greatly increased Sasuke’s defenses, making him nearly invulnerable to most attacks. Even so, it wasn’t enough to completely shield him from the attacks of highly skilled ninja leaders, known as Kage.

Sasuke’s Rinnegan Is Extremely Overpowered

During the Fourth Great Ninja War, Sasuke awakened the Rinnegan after speaking with Hagoromo Otsutsuki. This granted him full access to all six of its paths, allowing him to use its powers without limitations. He used the powerful technique, Planetary Devastation, on the tailed beasts to prevent them from interrupting his battle with Naruto. Additionally, Sasuke drained their chakra to create Indra’s Arrow, a devastating attack capable of countering Naruto’s strongest moves.

Beyond its usual powers, Sasuke’s Rinnegan gave him a unique ability called Amenotejikara. This technique let him instantly swap places with anything or anyone. It was particularly dangerous because it almost always bypassed enemy defenses, allowing him to pull opponents in close for an attack unexpectedly. He could also use Amenotejikara to set up surprise attacks, as he did during the fight with Momoshiki, creating an opening for Naruto to strike. Additionally, Sasuke’s Rinnegan allowed him to cast an incredibly strong Genjutsu that even the powerful tailed beasts couldn’t escape.

Sasuke’s Intelligence Makes Him Dangerous

Sasuke Can Formulate Plans In Seconds

Sasuke is exceptionally skilled, standing out among the characters in Naruto, but his greatest strength is his intelligence. Even as a child, he demonstrated a remarkable ability to learn. He picked up new jutsu with ease, mastering complex techniques like the Chidori in just a few days. Similarly, he quickly gained control of the Rinnegan, a completely new ocular power, in only a few years – a feat that would have taken others weeks or even months.

Sasuke’s cleverness was again on display during his battle with Deidara. When Deidara launched tiny bombs inside Sasuke’s body, Sasuke quickly used his Lightning Release to neutralize them all. However, since appearing in the Boruto series, Sasuke hasn’t been portrayed well by the author, Ikemoto. It seems the author has a bias against both Sasuke and Naruto, significantly weakening their abilities and essentially sidelining them from the main story.
