Naruto Characters Who Fought Naruto And Should Have Won

Naruto Uzumaki is the central character in Masashi Kishimoto’s famous manga series. As the main hero, he’s incredibly powerful and well-loved by fans. The author equipped Naruto with a wide range of skills that have allowed him to succeed in numerous battles.

Sometimes, Kishimoto, the creator of Naruto, would give the main character an unfair advantage in battles – a common trope in action-packed manga like Naruto. He wasn’t afraid to let the hero win even when it didn’t quite make sense, and this understandably frustrated some fans.

This post contains spoilers for Naruto.

Naruto vs. Haku

Sasuke Saved Naruto’s Life

One of Naruto’s first major fights was in the Land of Waves, against Haku, a skilled fighter trained by Zabuza. Zabuza, known as the Demon of the Hidden Mist, took Haku in and taught him to fight, hoping to use Haku’s unique abilities to make money. This training turned Haku into a deadly assassin capable of quickly defeating opponents.

Everyone expected Naruto to lose against Haku, as Haku was simply too strong and consistently outmaneuvered him. Throughout most of the battle, Haku seemed to be winning effortlessly, and Naruto didn’t appear to have a chance. However, the author, Kishimoto, needed to ensure Naruto survived, so he briefly boosted Naruto’s power. He also had Sasuke intervene and risk himself. Without Sasuke’s help, Haku would have easily defeated Naruto.

Naruto vs. Neji

Kurama Came To Naruto’s Rescue

The Chunin Exams are a competition held between ninja villages. In the Naruto series, they’re hosted in the Hidden Leaf Village. Villages send their best young ninja, called genin, to compete. Naruto was one of the Hidden Leaf’s participants, and he eventually faced off against Neji Hyuuga during the later stages of the exams.

Right from the start, the match promised to be thrilling, particularly after everyone saw Neji’s fight with Hinata. Early on, Neji clearly had the advantage over Naruto, relentlessly attacking his chakra points with his Gentle Fist style. Anyone else would have been defeated, but Naruto managed to push through the assault.

Naruto vs. Pain

Naruto Was Saved By Kushina

Although Naruto is a classic action anime, it explores surprisingly deep ideas. Many characters are driven by strong beliefs, and Nagato is a prime example. Witnessing the abuse of power led him to believe that true peace could only come from understanding each other’s suffering. His methods were extreme – he was willing to kill to achieve his goal. When Nagato became unable to fight himself, he controlled six bodies simultaneously, known as the Six Paths of Pain.

Everyone possessed the Rinnegan, but each person was limited to a specific way of using its power. Nagato controlled multiple bodies during his battle with Naruto. Even though Naruto was a skilled ninja who had mastered Toad Sage Mode, he found Pain to be a difficult opponent and needed assistance from his late mother. Ultimately, Naruto benefited from a stroke of good fortune.

Naruto vs. Obito

Naruto Survived Because Of Obito’s Weak Will

Naruto and Obito shared a lot of similarities, both being compassionate and always willing to help others. However, Obito’s outlook on life drastically changed after Rin’s death, which led him to join forces with Madara and pursue the ‘Tsuki no Me’ project.

In Naruto Shippuden, Obito’s dedication led him to start the Fourth Great Ninja War. He quickly became incredibly powerful as the host of the Ten-Tails, and almost completely defeated the Shinobi Alliance. While Naruto and his friends attempted to fight him, they weren’t strong enough. Naruto then decided to try reasoning with Obito, and surprisingly, it worked – Obito abandoned his plans. Had Obito remained determined, Naruto would have likely been destroyed.

Naruto vs. Kaguya

Naruto Received A Lot Of Help From His Friends

Naruto’s battle with Kaguya Otsutsuki wasn’t like his usual fights. She was far more powerful than him, so he couldn’t defeat her alone. He needed assistance from Sasuke, Kakashi, Sakura, and Obito just to stand a chance. Even with their combined strength, they struggled, and Obito was ultimately defeated by Kaguya’s deadly Ash Bones.

When Obito appeared to be defeated, Naruto and Team 7 were on the brink of losing. But unexpectedly, Obito transferred some of his power and his eyes to Kakashi, which dramatically changed the battle. This boost in Kakashi’s abilities ultimately allowed Naruto to win. Had Obito died without sharing his power, Team 7 would have been defeated, and Kaguya would have taken control.
