Naruto Has Already Confirmed A Genjutsu Even Stronger Than Tsukuyomi

In the anime Naruto, ninjas will do whatever it takes to win a fight. They prioritize completing their missions, even if it means using sneaky or deceptive tactics. One popular skill they use is called Genjutsu, which can quickly end battles depending on the ninja’s skill level.

Itachi Uchiha is widely considered the most skilled Genjutsu user in the anime and manga series Naruto. He dedicated years to training and perfected all his techniques, with the incredibly powerful Tsukuyomi being his most notable skill.

Itachi Awakened The Mangekyou Sharingan During The Uchiha Clan Massacre

Tsukuyomi is a powerful ability unlocked through Itachi’s Mangekyou Sharingan. He didn’t have access to it from the start; he first awakened this special form of the Sharingan during the tragic massacre of the Uchiha clan, after being forced to kill his own parents. The immense emotional pain and trauma of that event triggered the awakening, giving him access to three incredibly strong abilities, including Tsukuyomi.

I witnessed a technique called Amaterasu, used by the Uchiha clan. It created these incredibly intense black flames. Once they touched someone, they’d spread rapidly, consuming the entire body until nothing was left. What was really unique about them was their ability to extinguish any flame – they could even burn other fire-based attacks.

Itachi’s Mangekyou Sharingan Had Two More Abilities

One of the coolest abilities the Mangekyou Sharingan gave me was the Susanoo! Basically, when I activated it, this massive, spirit-like warrior would appear and completely cover my body, protecting me from anything. I only ever really used it during my fight with Sasuke, but even then, it was clear just how powerful it was. I summoned it to block Sasuke’s attacks and occasionally strike back. What’s really unique about my Susanoo, though, is that it manifested with not one, but two incredible weapons!

Itachi eventually acquired two powerful weapons: the Sword of Totsuka and the Yata Mirror. The Sword of Totsuka could seal anything it touched, and the Yata Mirror was capable of deflecting nearly all attacks. Zetsu claimed these weapons made the Uchiha’s Susanoo completely invulnerable.

Itachi’s Mangekyou Sharingan had a particularly dangerous ability called Tsukuyomi. This powerful illusion trapped opponents in a false reality and distorted their sense of time. Itachi could inflict what felt like days of agonizing pain and trauma, often leaving victims in a coma-like state. Even a skilled ninja like Kakashi needed hospitalization after experiencing it. Despite its strength, Tsukuyomi isn’t the most powerful Genjutsu – two others are even more formidable.

Kotoamatsukami And Infinity Tsukuyomi Are Superior Genjutsu

Kotoamatsukami is a special Genjutsu only Shisui Uchiha could use. It was incredibly powerful because it let him secretly change what people thought and believed, making them feel like their own choices were actually his manipulations. Its effectiveness is proven by the fact that Itachi was able to break free from Kabuto’s control thanks to it.

The Infinite Tsukuyomi Is Almost Impossible To Avoid

Kotoamatsukami is a powerful Genjutsu, but the Infinite Tsukuyomi is even stronger. However, only those with the Rinne Sharingan can use it. To activate the Infinite Tsukuyomi, the user projects their Rinne Sharingan onto the moon. The moon then emits a brilliant light that affects anyone it touches, trapping them in a perpetual dream state and rendering them unable to move.

The Infinite Tsukuyomi typically puts people into a coma-like state, after which they’re enveloped by the roots of the God Tree. Slowly, their chakra is drained, causing them to lose their sense of self and transform into White Zetsu. Eventually, their chakra becomes the Chakra Fruit. In essence, the Infinite Tsukuyomi serves as a method to create these fruits. However, it’s important to note that some individuals are resistant to its effects.

Who Can Avoid The Infinite Tsukuyomi?

There are a few ways to resist the Infinite Tsukuyomi. People with the Rinnegan are naturally immune, as are those revived through the Impure World Reincarnation technique. Also, anyone completely covered by Black Zetsu cannot be caught in its illusion. Because it’s so hard to avoid, the Infinite Tsukuyomi is widely considered the most powerful Genjutsu in the Naruto universe.
