This article contains spoilers for the Boruto series.
The world of Naruto has changed significantly in the Boruto series, and many longtime fans aren’t happy about it. Boruto has made drastic changes, even removing key characters like Naruto and Sasuke from central roles. At the end of the first part of Boruto, Naruto was sealed away by Kawaki and hasn’t reappeared since. He’s been declared dead to the world, meaning Konoha has lost its most powerful Hokage, as far as everyone believes.
It’s been three years since Naruto became Hokage, and Shikamaru has been serving as an interim leader. But the village needs a permanent Hokage now, and after considering everyone, it’s clear there’s only one person truly suited to follow in Naruto’s footsteps.
The Seventh Hokage Was The Most Legendary Ninja In History
- Elected After The Retirement Of Kakashi Hatake
- Konoha’s Strongest Ninja In History
Fans loved watching Naruto Uzumaki’s path to becoming the Seventh Hokage. He started as a lonely, powerless boy, disliked by everyone in the village. As his competitive relationship with Sasuke developed, Naruto grew incredibly strong. Throughout it all, his biggest wish was for the village to accept him, and he finally achieved that dream by becoming Hokage – though it took a lot of hard work and struggle.
Naruto’s story is about never giving up, believing in yourself, and being willing to put others first. He faced many hardships, but ultimately found love and support from those around him.
Throughout his journey, Naruto dedicated himself to creating a world without suffering and conflict, and he largely succeeded. By the end of the original Naruto series, he became the Seventh Hokage and was widely considered the most powerful ninja ever. While Naruto was a celebrated hero in his own story, the Boruto series shows that his accomplishments and reputation have been significantly tarnished.
Konoha Needs The Perfect Seventh Hokage Replacement Immediately
Naruto Uzumaki isn’t the powerful figure he once was. In the Boruto series, he lost Kurama, his greatest source of strength, and was largely sidelined from the main story. Despite being the franchise’s main character, many fans feel Naruto was unfairly treated in the new series.
Light always comes with darkness, and triumph always creates loss. The pursuit of peace, when driven by self-interest, often leads to conflict. Even love can spring from hatred. – Madara Uchiha, Naruto
It’s debatable whether the story’s direction was the right choice, but within the narrative, Konoha clearly needs a new leader after Naruto’s unexpected absence of three years. Bringing back Kakashi, the well-loved Sixth Hokage, would be a natural and fitting solution.
Naruto’s Perfect Replacement Right Now Is Kakashi Hatake
Many fans might expect the newer generation of characters to take over from Naruto, but they aren’t quite prepared yet. Sarada Uchiha has the potential to become Hokage someday, but she still needs to grow stronger and more mature. Konohamaru, on the other hand, doesn’t seem capable of becoming Hokage based on his current abilities and personality.
Currently, Sakura Haruno is the most qualified and deserving candidate to be Hokage, but the Boruto series seems to have sidelined her. This has led many fans to believe the story will bring Kakashi back into the role instead.
As a long-time fan, I always thought it made perfect sense for Kakashi to step in as Hokage again while Naruto was away! Konoha has actually seen this happen before – it’s a tradition, really. When the Fourth Hokage passed, the Third Hokage temporarily returned to lead until the Fifth was chosen. So, Kakashi taking the reins again just felt right to me, keeping that legacy alive!
With the Seventh Hokage currently unavailable, it makes sense for the village to turn to Kakashi – a strong and clever ninja – to lead during this difficult period. This would benefit the story in a couple of ways:
- It would allow Konoha to regain some sense of semblance and regroup as a powerful village. It would give them a strong leader on top, and allow for newer strategies to be formulated in the battle against the Shinju, and eventually, attempt to bring back Naruto.
- Secondly, it would also ease the pain in the hearts of the fans. The Boruto series has done a great disservice to all Naruto characters, and that includes Kakashi. Bringing him back right now would be the best decision that Ikemoto could make, and it would also make the fans happy.
Konohamaru And Sarada Can Take Up The Position Later On
image by Manga Plus Kakashi won’t be Hokage for long, and as the Boruto story concludes, Konohamaru is a likely candidate to take over. However, he needs to improve significantly before he’s ready for the role. Once he proves himself capable, he’ll be a welcome Eighth Hokage. Following him, Sarada Uchiha is expected to become the Ninth Hokage, which would likely please fans of the series.
This isn’t the story of a boy dreaming of becoming Hokage. That was my father’s journey. This is my own story—the story of Boruto Uzumaki.
Throughout the story, fans will be thrilled to see Naruto Uzumaki back in action, participating in many intense fights against powerful enemies like the Otsutsuki clan or the Shinju.
Ultimately, it’s up to the story’s author, Ikemoto, whether or not to bring Kakashi back. Fans, however, would be thrilled if Boruto did, as it could resolve many current issues with the series and greatly increase excitement.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex is the next chapter in the Boruto story, created by Mikio Ikemoto with supervision from Masashi Kishimoto. Picking up three years after the events of the Omnipotence arc, the series follows Boruto Uzumaki as he works to protect the world and navigates his relationship with his brother, Kawaki. Chapter 30 is scheduled to be released on January 20, 2026, at 10 AM EST / 3 PM UTC. Fans can read it for free on the Manga Plus and Shonen Jump apps.
