The world of Naruto has evolved significantly, and as the story moved into the Boruto era, new powers emerged while some older ones became less important. One example is the power of the Six Paths. It used to be a highly coveted and powerful ability in Naruto, but its impact has diminished in Boruto due to the way the story has unfolded.

With Naruto losing Kurama and Sasuke losing his Rinnegan, the incredible powers of the Six Paths are effectively gone in the Boruto series. While it’s sad to see, this marks the end of that powerful era within the Naruto story.

Throughout the Naruto series, the Six Paths Powers were presented as the ultimate source of strength. These powers were essentially a copy of the chakra possessed by the Sage of Six Paths, Hagoromo Otsutsuki. A person could gain these powers in one of two ways: by combining the chakra of Hagoromo’s sons, Indra and Asura, or by receiving the power directly from Hagoromo himself.

Beyond the Six Paths technique, the Rinnegan possesses another incredible ability: the Outer Path. This powerful eye allows its user control over life and death. Konan explains to Naruto that Nagato is sacrificing himself because he has faith in him.

Characters gained the power of the Six Paths through various means. Madara Uchiha, for example, obtained it by absorbing flesh from Hashirama and integrating it with his own body. Because Madara was the reincarnation of Indra and Hashirama of Asura, this allowed him to develop the Six Paths Chakra and unlock the Rinnegan. This ultimately gave him immense power when he reappeared during the Fourth Great Ninja War. By becoming the host of the Ten Tails, Madara also mastered Six Paths Senjutsu, effectively becoming the next Sage of Six Paths.

Let’s look at Naruto and Sasuke. Both received the Six Paths power directly from Hagoromo Otsutsuki. When they were close to death, Hagoromo gave each of them half of his power, enabling them to battle Madara and ultimately confront Kaguya Otsutsuki. This immense power essentially made Naruto and Sasuke godlike. Naruto gained Six Paths Senjutsu and the chakra of all the Tailed Beasts, while Sasuke obtained the Rinnegan, greatly enhancing his visual abilities. Though these powers were highly sought after during the Naruto series, they unfortunately became less significant in Boruto.

The final battle against Isshiki marked the end of Naruto and Sasuke’s incredible powers. Naruto briefly accessed a powerful form called Baryon Mode, but it came at a terrible cost: the death of Kurama, the Nine-Tailed Beast. Losing Kurama not only took away a huge source of Naruto’s strength, but also severed his connection to all the other Tailed Beasts, effectively stripping him of his Six Paths powers, at least for now.

Sasuke Uchiha’s Rinnegan was pierced by Momoshiki while he possessed Boruto, resulting in both characters losing their immense Six Paths Powers. This effectively removed the god-like abilities that were central to the Naruto series, in a surprising turn of events for the Boruto storyline.

Naruto And Sasuke’s Legacy Has Been Ruined In Boruto

Many fans are disappointed with how the Boruto series has negatively impacted the established characters from Naruto, especially Naruto and Sasuke. Despite receiving a lot of focus in the new series, their portrayals have been frustratingly poor. Fans feel these iconic characters were unfairly weakened and disrespected by villains, and their hard-earned power was diminished simply to give the younger generation a chance to take center stage.

The way characters from the original Naruto series are being treated in Boruto is understandably upsetting to fans. There’s no need to diminish the accomplishments of established heroes simply to make the new generation look good – a skilled writer could easily balance both. Hopefully, when these legendary characters return in Boruto – and it looks like they will soon – they’ll be given the respect they deserve and regain their former glory.

Boruto’s End Could Restore Naruto And Sasuke’s Legacy For Good

Currently, it seems likely that the Boruto series will find a way to honor the impact of Naruto and Sasuke. As the series progresses toward its conclusion, both characters are expected to return – they haven’t died yet, so a comeback is inevitable. When they do reappear, they might receive new abilities or regain their former strength. However it happens, fans will be thrilled to see Naruto and Sasuke back in action if they’re restored to their previous power levels.

Even if Boruto doesn’t immediately give Naruto and Sasuke the power-up fans are hoping for, most believe the series will ultimately honor their history. Boruto’s ending will likely close a difficult chapter for these two characters, and future stories will probably center on Naruto alone. While a prequel or remake could revisit their past and give them another chance to shine, fans agree that Boruto needs to conclude to properly protect and revive the legends of Naruto and Sasuke, and they’re eager to see that happen.
