As a long-time fan of the Naruto and Boruto series, I must say that Sasuke Uchiha has truly come a long way from his troubled youth to becoming one of the most powerful shinobis in history. His journey is a testament to how hard work, determination, and resilience can lead to greatness.
This article contains spoilers from Naruto’s Final Arc.
Key Takeaways
- Sasuke played a crucial role in saving the world & attained the power of the Sage Of Six Paths.
- The Uchiha clan’s tragedy fueled Sasuke’s strength & led him to surpass Madara Uchiha.
- As an adult in Boruto, Sasuke is stronger than Madara & rivals Otsutsuki, despite losing his Rinnegan.
In the Naruto series, Sasuke Uchiha has consistently played a pivotal role. Indeed, one could argue that Sasuke’s importance rivals that of Naruto Uzumaki in shaping the broader narrative. Masashi Kishimoto, the creator, has emphasized this point, viewing Sasuke as a crucial counterpart to Naruto, and it is the joint evolution of these characters that adds an element of thrill to Naruto.
Without a doubt, this development positions Sasuke as one of the most powerful characters within the series, and indeed, by the conclusion of Naruto, he had attained such stature. Remarkably, he even returned home with the ambition to surpass Madara, an accomplishment that left many fans pleasantly surprised.
Sasuke’s Destiny As One Of The Children Of Prophecy
- Sasuke had a hand in saving the world
- Sasuke attained half of the power of the Sage Of Six Paths
Being part of the powerful Uchiha clan was an advantage for Sasuke right from birth, as members of this clan possess the unique Sharingan ability and have exceptionally strong chakra. The Uchiha clan is renowned as the most formidable shinobi group in the Naruto series. Therefore, being born into such a prestigious lineage granted Sasuke a certain edge. However, it’s important to note that even the Uchiha aren’t automatically superior – they still need to put in effort and hone their skills to reach great heights. Consequently, Sasuke was yet to realize his full potential during his early days as a ninja.
In terms of talent, he’s greater than even Itachi! – Orochimaru
Although the Uchiha clan pursues power, it’s ironic that they can only amass strength through suffering, which paradoxically is their deepest wish to shield their cherished ones. The intensity of their affection is so profound that the pain of losing this love eventually empowers them. For instance, Sasuke, who suffered immense loss at a tender age, channeled his grief into power, explaining why he was formidable. In the initial stages of Naruto, Sasuke attained the Sharingan, refined it to perfection, and progressed from a two-tomoe Sharingan to a three-tomoe Sharingan after seeking out Orochimaru due to his thirst for power.
In the time jump, Sasuke underwent training under the Sannin and received specific medications to accelerate his development. Consequently, when he reappeared post-time jump, Sasuke was significantly stronger than Naruto, preparing him to confront Itachi. However, Sasuke was unaware that Itachi had been guarding him all along. The pain of losing Itachi fueled his emotions, causing his powers to surge even more. The Uchiha clan’s power is nurtured by hatred, and Sasuke’s resentment expanded considerably. At a certain point, Sasuke was consumed by darkness, but during the Fourth Great Ninja War, Itachi Uchiha intervened, enabling Sasuke to gain self-awareness for the first time. This was when Sasuke’s destiny as a Chosen One was documented in the series.
I will execute the Five Kage who led the world to this point. – Sasuke Uchiha
Initially, spectators assumed Naruto Uzumaki was the sole figure destined by prophecy. However, as the narrative delved deeper into the mythos surrounding the Sage of Six Paths and the Child of Prophecy, it was revealed that both Indra and Ashura reincarnations were to play crucial roles in saving the world. In the same vein, it turned out that Sasuke too was a Child of Prophecy, a truth he grasped during the war. Pursuing his ambition to become the Hokage, Sasuke contributed significantly to the fight against Madara. He acquired Itachi’s eyes and eventually, with Hagoromo’s encounter, he gained the Rinnegan and Six Paths Powers, elevating him to a level that allowed him to stand toe-to-toe with even formidable foes like Madara in power.
How Sasuke’s Strength Compared To Madara In The War
Sasuke Uchiha Was Almost As Strong As Madara During The War
Initially, Sasuke’s power wasn’t too dissimilar from Madara’s. However, when Sasuke possessed the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan, their strength was quite distant. In fact, even without his special eyes, Madara was able to defeat Sasuke, and without assistance, Sasuke would have perished. But, he endured that challenge, and after encountering the Sage of Six Paths, he obtained the Rinnegan. Upon returning, Sasuke had undergone a significant transformation. He engaged in battle with a more powerful Madara who, by this time, had incorporated the Ten Tails within himself, becoming incredibly potent. He even absorbed the God Tree, yet Sasuke managed to hold his own against him. Sasuke’s speed was so remarkable that not even Madara could evade being divided by him. Together with Naruto, he would effortlessly vanquish Madara. This is why a more powerful adversary in the form of Kaguya Otsutsuki was introduced.
As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but reflect on the intense clash between Naruto and Sasuke against Kaguya. Despite their best efforts, they barely managed to land a few hits, showing us just how formidable she was. In truth, Kaguya proved far too powerful for both Naruto and Sasuke individually, necessitating aid to bring her down.
During the war, it’s clear that Sasuke wasn’t as powerful as Madara yet. He was still in developmental stages, and his mastery over the Rinnegan was gradually improving. In a fight, Sasuke could keep up with Madara and even drive him back, but beating him was quite challenging at that point. This was mostly because Sasuke lacked full control over the eye. As time passed and Sasuke continued to train, he eventually reached and surpassed Madara’s level.
Adult Sasuke’s Strength In Boruto
Sasuke Is On An Entirely Different Tier Of Strength In Boruto
In the Boruto series, Sasuke’s power as an adult significantly surpasses Madara Uchiha’s strength. This is evident as Sasuke possesses the capability to challenge Otsutsuki characters solo, with Momoshiki being one of them – a being stronger than Madara. Though Sasuke wasn’t able to defeat Momoshiki, it’s worth noting that he gave Momoshiki quite a tough fight. This is noteworthy considering the fact that transporting eight individuals to another dimension weakened him considerably, potentially reducing his strength by half. Given optimal circumstances, Sasuke would likely have effortlessly defeated Momoshiki.
To clarify, Kishimoto has made it evident that Sasuke and Naruto were equally strong adults in the Boruto era. With both characters continuing to grow stronger, it’s officially established in the story that Sasuke now outmatches Madara. However, due to Sasuke losing his Rinnegan, he is undoubtedly weaker than Madara at this moment. The future of Sasuke remains unclear, and there’s potential for him to regain immense power once more.
Boruto is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of Boruto, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 17, is set to be December 20, 2024.
