Naruto: Masashi Kishimoto Confirms A New Manga After Naruto

This article contains spoilers from the Naruto series.

For years, fans of the *Naruto* series have hoped for a comeback from its creator, Masashi Kishimoto. When he finished *Naruto* over ten years ago, many believed he’d eventually create another manga. After a break, Kishimoto did start a new series, *Samurai 8*. However, as many fans already know, *Samurai 8* wasn’t successful and was ultimately canceled by Shonen Jump.

I’m so excited! It’s been a while since we’ve heard much from Kishimoto, but he’s started hinting at a new manga project! He’s definitely had time to recharge after finishing *Naruto*, and it feels like it’s only a matter of time before he starts working on something new. What a lot of people don’t know is that he’s already said he *wants* to create more manga and explore fresh ideas. Honestly, I think it’s a sure thing we’ll see him back in *Jump* eventually, and I, for one, can barely contain my anticipation to see what he comes up with!

Kishimoto Has Already Confirmed Plans For A New Manga

Kishimoto Wants To Draw Another Manga After Naruto

  • Kishimoto Is Resting After Samurai 8’s Failure
  • New Manga Will Still Excite The Fans

Masashi Kishimoto, the creator of Naruto, plans to start drawing manga again. He’s mentioned this twice, stating that while he’s currently focusing on spending time with his family, that’s what will ultimately inspire him to begin a new project. Essentially, he’s letting fans know he’s not finished with manga and intends to return to creating new series, likely in Weekly Jump, when he’s ready.

To never give up! That’s my ninja way. — Naruto Uzumaki

Masashi Kishimoto, the creator of *Naruto*, has revealed he’s already developing ideas for a new manga. He shared that his personal experiences, particularly feelings of pressure and expectation, will heavily influence this next project. He hopes to explore these themes in his future work and asked fans to be patient as he develops the story.

Early in the Naruto series, the story strongly highlighted the idea that dedication and effort could overcome natural talent, especially through characters like Rock Lee, Might Guy, and Naruto. However, it was later revealed that Naruto was actually the son of the Fourth Hokage. Wouldn’t it have been interesting to give Naruto a more ordinary upbringing instead of making him someone special from birth?

Kishimoto:

That’s a really insightful question, and it gets to the core of why I created Naruto. Initially, I based the character on my own experiences growing up in a small town and feeling overlooked. Like Naruto, I desperately wanted to be acknowledged and given a chance, but it was difficult. I channeled those feelings into the character, and as Naruto gained popularity, I started to receive the recognition I’d always craved. Eventually, that initial desire was fulfilled, and I found it challenging to continue writing Naruto’s story. During that creative block, I began thinking about the importance of family and the burden of expectations. I realized how much pressure people face trying to live up to what others expect of them. I then shifted Naruto’s story to reflect this new perspective, and I actually hope to explore these ideas further in a future manga, so please stay tuned!

Kishimoto’s New Manga Could Be A Naruto Sequel

New Series Could Be Set Before Boruto

It’s currently unknown what Masashi Kishimoto will create for his next manga. However, it’s likely to have some connection to the world of Naruto. Kishimoto has hinted at this by discussing how his personal life experiences shaped Naruto Uzumaki, and suggesting fans should look for those same themes in his future work. Many believe he’ll eventually expand on the Naruto story in some way.

If this new series is connected to *Naruto*, it would be best if it took place during a previously unexplored time in the story. This would be a great opportunity to revitalize the *Naruto* franchise and give fans something fresh, especially since *Boruto* hasn’t been well-received. We can hopefully expect more details about this project soon.

The next chapter of *Boruto: Two Blue Vortex* will be released on September 19, 2025, at 10 AM Eastern Time / 3 PM Coordinated Universal Time. Fans can read it for free on the Manga Plus and Shonen Jump apps as usual.
