Naruto: Obito Was Strong, But This Akatsuki Member Was Stronger

This post contains spoilers for Naruto.

In the world of Naruto, there’s no scarcity of powerful characters. Right from the early stages of the series, viewers were introduced to incredibly strong individuals who could hold their own against a Kage. Many of these formidable figures were connected to the Akatsuki, an organization comprising high-ranking rogue ninjas with an S-rank status. The Akatsuki included two Uchihas among its ranks, and one was Obito. Obito was a formidable warrior, often manipulating events unseen by others. However, he harbored fear towards another member of the Akatsuki.

Itachi Uchiha Was Stronger Than Obito

Itachi Kept Obito’s Influence In Check

After Madara successfully persuaded Obito to carry out the scheme for casting the Infinite Tsukuyomi, he handed over leadership duties to Obito. With Madara out of the picture, Obito seized control of the Akatsuki. Adopting the alias of Tobi, he feigned foolishness, a ruse that deceived most members of the Akatsuki. However, Itachi was an exception; his exceptional intelligence and keen insight made it nearly impossible for him to be duped.

Because of a certain situation, Obito was always alert around Itachi and avoided taking any reckless actions. However, it wasn’t until Itachi passed away that Obito felt free to act on his plans. Before breathing his last, Itachi hid Amaterasu within Sasuke’s eye, as he anticipated that Obito would try to control him and misguide the young Uchiha.

Itachi Uchiha Was The Best Genjutsu User In Naruto

Itachi Was The Best When It Came To Genjutsu

Among ninjas with exceptional talent, Itachi is often one of the first names mentioned. Even from his youth, Itachi was rumored to possess the intellectual prowess equal to a Hokage leader. Consequently, he effortlessly excelled in all academy tests and graduated with outstanding results. Moreover, Itachi demonstrated proficiency in various nature releases, using them with unparalleled precision.

Nevertheless, Itachi’s greatest asset was the Sharingan. He activated this unique eye power at a young age and quickly mastered its use. Triggering the Mangekyou Sharingan followed Itachi’s observation of Shisui’s suicide. The Mangekyou Sharingan amplified Itachi’s prowess, bestowing upon him three additional skills. These talents were:

  • Tsukuyomi
  • Amaterasu
  • Susanoo

Using Tsukuyomi, Itachi had the ability to ensnare even the most proficient ninjas in his illusionary spell. Once trapped, these individuals found it impossible to break free until Itachi chose to release the technique. Notably, he employed this Genjutsu on Kakashi, leaving him bedridden for several days at the hospital. Even the exceptionally skilled Kurenai, known as the top Genjutsu user in the Hidden Leaf, was deceived by Itachi’s cunning use of the spell.

Itachi’s Amaterasu ability produced continuous, black infernal flames that obliterated their targets. However, this potent power drained his energy significantly due to his standard Mangekyou Sharingan.

In the battle against Sasuke, Itachi unveiled his ultimate tactic – his Susanoo. He employed this powerful construct to vanquish Orochimaru and shield himself from fatal assaults. What set Itachi’s Susanoo apart were the Yata Mirror and the Totsuka Blade. The former had the ability to block any incoming attacks, while the latter was capable of sealing anything it touched. Even Zetsu acknowledged that these artifacts rendered Itachi’s Susanoo virtually indestructible.

It was clear that Obito stood no chance against Itachi, so he proceeded with great caution.

Itachi Uchiha Deserved A Better Life

Although immensely powerful, Itachi’s life was tragically marked by guilt, pain, and sorrow. He lost a cherished friend, was forced to take the lives of his own parents, and inflicted deep wounds on his sibling. Labeled as a traitor and murderer, he faced relentless persecution from the village. Yet, the reality was far more complex.

As a fervent fan, I can’t help but share the compelling story of Itachi. Leaving our beloved village behind, I joined the enigmatic Akatsuki, not just as an observer, but to keep tabs on their intricate schemes. Despite being shunned, my heart always yearned for the Hidden Leaf. The weight of my deceit, especially towards Sasuke, was a constant burden that weighed heavily upon me. Sasuke, my cherished younger brother, held an irreplaceable place in my heart. Fortunately, after Kabuto resurrected me, I was given the priceless opportunity to mend fences with Sasuke. And while there’s no disputing that Itachi deserved a second chance at life, it’s undeniable that he carried a profound sadness that only honesty could alleviate.
