This could be due to someone exhibiting an arrogant demeanor, disparaging Naruto’s friends, or displaying villainous behavior in the narrative. Consequently, it’s not unusual for Naruto to want to steer clear of certain characters. However, it comes as a surprise when, against all odds, he ends up forming strong relationships with these very individuals.

Throughout the epic sagas of Naruto and Naruto Shippuden, I’ve noticed that this spirited ninja has formed some rather unexpected bonds with a diverse array of characters. At first glance, these friendships seemed almost impossible, given their initial adversarial relationships. The following individuals exemplify those who, in spite of their initial animosity, eventually forged strong alliances with the Bearer of the Nine-Tailed Beast.

7. Teuchi

Born with the burden of possessing the perilous Nine-Tailed Fox, Naruto often found himself spending his youth in solitude, as most of the village kept their distance from him due to fear or caution. However, against the norm and general disapproval of the villagers, Teuchi, the esteemed proprietor of a popular ramen shop within Konoha, cultivated an exceptionally close bond with Naruto.

In an unexpected turn of events, Teuchi’s friendship with Naruto has sparked numerous conversations and arguments online about his true intentions, given that Naruto was once widely disliked. However, it appears that Teuchi is just thoughtful enough to perceive that Naruto, despite his immense power, wasn’t as intimidating in person.

6. Tsunade

To Say Naruto And Tsunade Got Off On The Wrong Foot Would Be Putting It Lightly

For the first time, Naruto encounters Tsunade when he’s still a young and impulsive ninja, fresh from being a pupil under Jiraiya. It doesn’t take long for him to clash with Tsunade, primarily due to her casual dismissal of becoming Hokage. Given that this role has been Naruto’s lifelong ambition, it’s no surprise he expresses displeasure at Jiraiya suggesting Tsunade, whom he finds particularly unsuitable for the position.

Ultimately, it’s Naruto’s unwavering determination to shield those dear to him that shifts Tsunade’s perspective towards him. Reminiscent of her younger brother Nawaki, Naruto risks everything to vanquish Kabuto with a Rasengan, demonstrating his readiness to safeguard the needy, regardless of their acquaintance. Initially antagonistic, they eventually forge a strong connection through their mutual aim to secure Konoha and its inhabitants from peril.

5. Sai

Naruto Originally Saw Sai As An Irritating Replacement For Sasuke

Since Sasuke left Konoha at the end of the Naruto series, it made sense that Naruto and Sakura would receive a new team member to take his place. This fresh addition was Sai, a soldier from the Anbu Root division who showed very little emotion, much like a piece of wood. At first, Naruto viewed Sai as just a stand-in for Sasuke, and often grew frustrated with the ninja’s serious demeanor, which contrasted sharply with Naruto’s free-spirited attitude.

Gradually, Naruto grew to value Sai significantly more, eventually perceiving him as a trusted ally, despite his initial rough treatment towards him. A pivotal moment in their friendship arrived when Naruto was attacked by Karui following Sasuke’s abduction of Bee. This encounter serves as a turning point in their relationship, showing Neji that people can indeed rise above their supposed destinies if they are willing to put in the effort.

Starting from that point forward, an extraordinary bond blossomed between us, one that defied expectations and flourished throughout our shared journey. Neji wasn’t merely there to aid me in the mission to reclaim Sasuke; he demonstrated unwavering devotion, willing to sacrifice himself for my protection during the climactic war. This act of selflessness was a testament to the profound respect he developed for me, someone he initially held in contempt years prior.

Two Jinchurikis With Very Different Outlooks On The World

Similar to Naruto, Gaara is a Jinchuriki who has experienced a challenging upbringing due to his inner demon. Since his mother perished during childbirth, Gaara spent his early years in solitude, always on edge as Shukaku, his tethered beast, could seize control of him at any moment. This tough past shaped Gaara’s perspective on life, making him indifferent to the immense pain he causes with his formidable sand Jutsu abilities.

However, their relationship takes a significant turn after the Chunin Exams, where an inevitable clash between Naruto and Gaara occurs. In this confrontation, Naruto penetrates through to Gaara, making him realize that he’s not isolated in the world. Later, when Gaara faces off against Sasuke, he acknowledges that he never anticipated developing such a profound bond with Naruto. Yet, this unexpected friendship fundamentally alters his perspective on life and the people around him.

2. Kurama

The Ferocious Nine-Tailed Fox Didn’t See Naruto As A Worthy Successor Of His Power

In simpler terms, the formidable Nine-Tailed Fox, named Kurama, isn’t particularly happy about being confined within Naruto by his father. The bitterness Kurama feels towards Minato for sealing him leads to a rather chilly relationship between him and Naruto. However, this dynamic changes once Naruto understands that he must collaborate with Kurama in order to develop and mature as a ninja.

Through his apprenticeship with Killer Bee, Naruto manages to connect with Kurama. Sharing numerous experiences prior, Kurama ultimately decides to rely on and trust Naruto, even addressing him as a friend. Despite their past animosity, Naruto and Kurama bridge their differences, forging a relationship that would later prove crucial in preventing the world from being annihilated.

Many might believe that their friendship would never recover, given Sasuke’s determination to move on. However, after numerous battles and close encounters with death, the strength of their bond only deepens.
