For nearly three decades, Naughty Dog has consistently incorporated secret items in their games. Notably, the Crash Bandicoot series was rich with hidden Crystals and Gems, while the Jak and Daxter series showcased thousands of Precursor Orbs scattered across its universe. Even the Uncharted series, amidst its action-packed storytelling, features relics left behind by ancient civilizations as collectibles. Consequently, it is reasonable to anticipate that Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet will also include a set of collectibles.
Exploring the Sci-Fi genre opens up a world of creativity for Naughty Dog in terms of collectibles for ‘Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet’. Instead of venturing into unexplored territories, they could draw inspiration from their previous success with collectibles in ‘The Last of Us’, and breathe new life into them.
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet Could Flip The Last of Us’ Collectibles On Their Head
The Last of Us’ Collectibles Teased a Sci-Fi Universe
In the game “The Last of Us,” there are more collectibles than you might expect for a primarily linear action-adventure series. Among other items, players must find multiple Firefly Pendants, as well as search for various artifacts, weapon training manuals, numerous journal entries, and many notes – enough to fill a whole novel!
Among all the collectible items in “The Last of Us”, the most striking are the ‘Savage Starlight’ merchandise. In the original “Last of Us”, there are a total of 14 comic books scattered across the post-apocalyptic North America. These comics belong to the same Savage Starlight series, a Sci-Fi story revolving around Dr. Daniela Star, the main character, and her space voyage in the year 2186.
In The Last of Us Part 2, there’s a fresh type of Savage Starlight collectible introduced, allowing players to discover a total of 48 cards depicting characters from the comic series. Additionally, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered includes an Ellie skin inspired by Savage Starlight for use in its roguelike ‘No Return’ mode. Although the Savage Starlight collectibles in The Last of Us weren’t a direct reference to Naughty Dog’s upcoming Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, they now seem like an enjoyable wink at the studio’s aspiration to delve into the world of Science Fiction.
In addition to its appearance, Savage Starlight is mentioned in Uncharted 4. It can be seen as a poster during the game’s ending scenes, and it also serves as a selection of cosmetic items within the multiplayer aspect of the game.
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet’s Collectibles Could Reference The Post-Apocalypse
In the game “Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet”, it could add an exciting twist to discover some collectibles that challenge the Savage Starlight comics and cards from “The Last of Us”. Instead, these collectibles might present a series of post-apocalyptic items for players to find. For example, “Intergalactic’s” collectibles could take jabs at “The Last of Us” most recognized characters and events in the form of humorous trinkets and toys. Given that “Intergalactic” showcases a retrofuturistic style in its trailer, as created by Naughty Dog, physical collectibles like toys and trinkets would fit right in even within its Sci-Fi setting.
