  • Resource Packs like turning Axes into chainsaws add visual flair to the game, but won’t change gameplay mechanics.

As a seasoned Minecraft gamer with countless hours spent exploring, building, and mining in the pixelated world of blocks, I must say this latest mod by MushirMickeyJoe has caught my attention. The transformation of simple Axes into animated chainsaws is not just a visual upgrade, but a refreshing twist that adds a touch of realism to the game.

A Minecraft modder has designed an engaging Resource Pack that transforms all in-game Axes into spinning chainsaws. Typically, Minecraft items are depicted with flat textures mimicking Pickaxes, Shovels, and so on. However, this pack alters the look of Axes to give them a dynamic chainsaw appearance.

The Minecraft community has been modding the game since before it was officially released. Mods for the game range from Resource Packs that enhance the game’s graphics and performance to slight quality-of-life adjustments. Some of the most downloaded Minecraft mods include Iron Chests, Storage Drawers, and AppleSkin. The first fittingly allows players to create Iron Chests which store more items than a standard one, while the second segments storage based on items, and the last provides food saturation details. Players can find most of these in the Marketplace, with prices usually increasing based on how much is included in a pack. One gamer has created a unique Resource Pack that turns all the Axes into chainsaws.

Reddit user MushirMickeyJoe recently posted a GIF demonstrating their Minecraft Resource Pack that transforms Axes into chainsaws. The visual displays Wooden, Stone, Iron, Gold, Diamond, and Netherite Minecraft Chainsaws. In these tools, the motor and handle stay still while the saw rotates like a chain on a real-world chainsaw around the blade’s edge. Although the Resource Pack only alters the look of Axes, the Chainsaws won’t actually cut through Minecraft trees more efficiently due to their appearance. As MushirMickeyJoe mentioned, this Chainsaw Resource Pack is inspired by the Husqvarna tool lineup. Given that it enhances the aesthetic of Axes with an animated design, it could appeal to players seeking more dynamic designs than the original ones provided in Vanilla Minecraft.

This Minecraft Modder Made a Chainsaw Resource Pack

Apart from the current Resource Pack, MushirMickeyJoe has designed another pack featuring drills instead of pickaxes, all animated in a similar fashion. However, as the GIF concentrates solely on each axe-turned-chainsaw, it leaves some uncertainty about how the item would appear while cutting wood. In Minecraft, players usually swing an axe from above where they’re pointing, and the damage inflicted on a Wood block increases with each successive hit, based on the item’s quality. For instance, a Wood Axe deals less damage than a Stone one, which is in turn less than Iron or Gold ones. The Diamond and Netherite axes rank higher in terms of damage, with players able to upgrade a Diamond Axe into a Netherite Axe using Minecraft’s Netherite Upgrade Smithing Template.

MushirMickeyJoe made available their Resource Pack for those who expressed interest. However, since obtaining the Chainsaw Axes requires a download, some gamers might feel hesitant to use this Resource Pack. With Mojang still working on updates for Minecraft, it’s possible that a Chainsaw item could be introduced in an upcoming patch.
