Fans of the spin-off who have been yearning for the undead encounters starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan will be pleased to know that “TWD: Dead City” will resume on May 4.
In the recent trailer for the post-apocalyptic series, the complex dynamic between Negan and Maggie has flared up once more, leading them to collaborate in battling zombies and reclaiming their overrun city. As they do so, the melodious strains of Rosemary Clooney’s Manhattan fill the background while breathtaking shots of New York City are displayed. Last year’s trailer hinted at Negan resuming his old destructive ways, as he was depicted whistling a chilling tune and reuniting with his bat, Lucille. Now, fans of Dead City get an exclusive glimpse into the upcoming episodes, which feature the reappearance of Negan’s trusted companion: his bat, Lucille. AMC has shared a brief clip showing Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan receiving Lucille back into his possession, indicating that he is now prepared to confront the world with her by his side once more.
The Walking Dead’s Jeffrey Dean Morgan Discusses the Bond Between Negan and Lucille in Dead City Season 2

Despite much attention currently focused on a new post-apocalyptic show on HBO, there’s always enthusiasm for more stories of The Walking Dead. In its spin-off series, Maggie and Negan have journeyed to Manhattan together in search of Maggie’s son, Hershel, who was captured by a villain known as The Croat. This adventure also saw Negan pursued by a law enforcement officer named Armstrong. As Season 2 approaches, a new poster for Dead City has been released, and a behind-the-scenes sneak peek hints at the reunion of Negan with one of the show’s most ruthless characters. In the video clip, The Croat hands Lucille back to Negan, who then takes hold of the barbed wire bat and commands, “Kneel down.
Jeffery Dean Morgan expresses his strong attachment to the prop, Lucille, stating he prefers not to let others handle it. People often approach him asking, “Jeff, can we have Lucille?” But his response is a firm, “I’ve got it.” Morgan also shared his sentimental feelings for his Lucille tattoo, despite his real-life spouse, Hilarie Burton, playing the character on screen. However, the tattoo is not dedicated to Burton but rather to the prop itself, as he considers Lucille to be uniquely his and a significant part of his character. “Lucille has been an integral part of my acting experience, feeling like an extension of myself and the character. I absolutely love her,” Morgan said affectionately.
“To have Lucille back, that’s when Negan is at his most Negan.”
Morgan also discusses “The Walking Dead: Dead City” Season 2 as a fresh path we haven’t traveled before. He’s excited about it and urges us to jump right in. Despite Glenn, Maggie’s husband, being brutally killed by Negan on The Walking Dead, Maggie sought Negan’s aid in rescuing her son, Hershel. Once Hershel was safely rescued, Negan had to stay behind, and that’s where the story continues in Season 2. With fans already speculating about a potential romantic connection between Negan and Maggie, who knows what these two will cook up when May 4 arrives?
