In a conversation with Variety, Druckmann hinted at future projects following his departure from the show, stating that ideas for potential content in The Last of Us Part 3 were considered immediately after wrapping up the second game. However, Naughty Dog opted to develop a new intellectual property instead. Later, Druckmann expressed interest in exploring other concepts once Intergalactic was released, which could be exciting news for fans of The Last of Us. Industry insider and leaker Daniel Ritchman previously claimed that casting for The Last of Us Part 3 has begun, although the studio has yet to officially confirm this claim.
In a previous interview, the creator of The Last of Us expressed that he typically dedicates his attention to one game at a time due to the all-absorbing nature of such projects. During a recent conversation with Variety, Druckmann reaffirmed this approach, explaining that Naughty Dog doesn’t usually plan too far ahead but rather focuses on their immediate tasks. Therefore, if The Last of Us Part 3 is under development, it might be some time before fans receive official confirmation about it.
Regarding Naughty Dog’s upcoming game, there might be a significant delay in its release. With Druckmann stepping away from HBO production to concentrate on game development, it’s speculated that the new project, titled “Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet,” won’t hit shelves until 2027 or later.
