A recent Bloomberg report reveals that Netflix explored buying several major entertainment companies, including Electronic Arts, Disney, and Fox. This came as a surprise, as Netflix CEO Reed Hastings typically prefers building projects internally rather than making large acquisitions. The report states that Netflix’s leadership considered purchasing almost any significant company that became available, weighing options like Electronic Arts and even a full acquisition of Disney.
Despite discussions, Netflix’s leaders couldn’t agree on a deal. They were also worried about paying too much and negatively impacting their stock price, especially since the target company wasn’t considered highly valued.
