On the Netflix Anime YouTube channel, a fresh trailer for the reboot of Riyoko Ikeda’s iconic manga “The Rose of Versailles,” now an anime, was unveiled. The trailer indicated that the recently released movie will be streamable on Netflix starting from April 30.

The upcoming movie, a remake to mark the 50th anniversary of the 1972 manga “The Rose of Versailles,” will feature an English version as well. 2025’s “The Rose of Versailles” is a highly anticipated animated film version of Riyoko Ikeda’s groundbreaking 1972 shōjo manga masterpiece, which significantly influenced the genre during the “Gekiga” movement of the late 1960s and early 1970s. This wave introduced more mature themes to shōjo manga, broadening its audience from young children to teenagers and young adults.

The story unfolds during the 18th century in France, just before the French Revolution.
