Netflix is About to Get One of the Best Video Games of All Time

Netflix announced today that the popular game will be available to stream this December. The award-winning 2010 game, often considered one of the best of all time, will be included with all Netflix subscriptions. This is the first time players can experience directly on their phones or tablets.

In November 2021, Netflix, the popular streaming service for movies and TV shows, started offering video games. They began with a small selection of games, including titles based on their shows like Stranger Things: 1984, and simple mobile games such as Shooting Hoops. Over time, Netflix expanded its gaming efforts, adding well-received and popular games like Kentucky Route Zero, Dead Cells, and Hades—the last of which was initially only available on Netflix. Now, it looks like Netflix is taking a similar approach with Red Dead Redemption, the popular game that came before the hugely successful Red Dead Redemption 2.

Red Dead Redemption Is Coming to iOS and Android via Netflix on December 4, 2025

I was so excited when Red Dead Redemption finally came to mobile as Red Dead Redemption NETFLIX on November 13, 2025! The best part is, if you have a Netflix subscription on your iPhone or Android, it’s totally free to play. And it’s not just the main game – they’ve included the Undead Nightmare expansion too, which is awesome. The App Store says it’s a full version of both the game and the DLC, with some extra goodies from the Game of the Year Edition. It’s a little disappointing that the multiplayer won’t be available, but honestly, just being able to play this masterpiece on my phone is incredible.

Red Dead Redemption NETFLIX requires iOS 18.0 or later.

Many gamers might be surprised to hear this, considering Red Dead Redemption isn’t currently available on newer consoles and only recently came to PC. A new rating from the ESRB listing the game for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series consoles appeared beforehand, leading people to believe a port to these platforms is coming soon. The upcoming release on Netflix could be part of a larger plan to re-release the game on multiple platforms.

While requiring a Netflix subscription is a bit of a catch, the release of Red Dead Redemption on mobile is a big deal for the series. It’s the first time you can officially play a Red Dead game on your phone, following in the footsteps of other Rockstar titles like Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Vice City, which were previously offered through Netflix Games but were removed last December.
