Netflix has agreed to purchase Warner Bros. in 2026, following weeks of negotiations. The acquisition will happen after Warner Bros. Discovery finishes dividing into two distinct companies.
Netflix announced on Friday that it’s buying the streaming and studio operations of Warner Bros. Discovery for $82.7 billion. This includes Warner Bros. Games, bringing game developers like NetherRealm (Mortal Kombat), Rocksteady (Batman: Arkham), TT Games (LEGO games), and Avalanche under the Netflix Games division.

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav announced today that the company is bringing together two major entertainment companies to offer more people the shows and movies they enjoy most.
Netflix co-CEO Greg Peters stated that this purchase will strengthen what they offer viewers and help the company grow for many years.

The agreement covers a complete takeover of Warner Bros., and that name will be used for the company’s streaming and studio operations. However, the official announcement didn’t say anything about what will happen with the games division.
