Fans have been captivated by the intriguing narrative, performances, and costumes. Consequently, it wasn’t a shock when the streaming platform decided to renew the show for another season. There are whispers that a third season might be in development as well.

A few weeks ago, Pew, known for providing updates on all things related to One Piece, posted a photo hinting at the second season on what used to be Twitter. The image showcased the five primary characters: Santi (Taz Skylar), Roronoa Zoro (Mackenyu), Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy), Nami (Emily Rudd) and Usopp (Jacob Romero). The post included a message, “ONE PIECE LIVE ACTION IS SET FOR SEASON 3!” In another tweet, Pew added that while there hasn’t been an official announcement from Netflix yet, the listing on the Writers Guild of America directory suggests as much. Details about Season 3 are scarce at this point. However, the directory indicates that Joseph E Tracz and Matt Owens will serve as showrunners and executive producers for the show, with a tentative release window between 2025 and 2026.

As a passionate fan, I recently asked fellow One Piece enthusiasts about their expectations for upcoming seasons. One replied, stating they’d embrace a ‘full adaptation,’ potentially spanning approximately 20 seasons, if the quality remains as impressive as the first. Another echoed similar sentiments, expressing excitement over having 25 to 30 more seasons, despite the actors appearing slightly older.

Another user suggested that six seasons would be ideal, with eight being a minimum requirement, while completing it might need 10-12. Meanwhile, another hoped for just six seasons, whereas another believed eight or nine seasons could wrap up the story at Marineford. It seemed that many aspired for the live-action adaptation to stretch until the Marineford story arc.

However, some felt the production might not exceed 3 to 5 seasons due to One Piece being incredibly popular but expensive to produce.

The likelihood of One Piece making a comeback with Season 3 is quite high due to several factors. Reports suggest that Season 2 will cover the Loguetown, Reverse Mountain, and Drum Island arcs, culminating in Arabasta. If the second season follows through with the setup for the Arabasta saga, it seems logical that Season 3 would follow suit to delve into Crocodile’s significant storyline. This assumption is further strengthened by the fact that Netflix has already cast Joe Manganiello to portray the character of Crocodile. The actor himself confirmed his role in an Instagram post, which was met with approval from fans who found him suitable for the part.
