As a long-time fan of Stranger Things since its inception, I can’t help but feel excited and anxious about the upcoming season 5. The prospect of Vecna’s return, more revelations about the Upside Down, and an all-out fight among our beloved characters has me on the edge of my seat.
In simpler terms, we can say that the character Vecna, played by Jamie Campbell Bower, will reappear in Hawkins. The series will delve deeper into the Upside Down, and the characters are going to be involved in a battle of their lifetimes. While these elements seem destined for Stranger Things season 5, there are many aspects about the final season that remain unclear. This ambiguity is sparking great excitement among fans as they brainstorm theories about the show’s characters and storylines.
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but contemplate the finale that would truly do justice to this incredible and enigmatic series – Stranger Things season 5. However, there are also some ways it could conclude that fans, including myself, would dread, finding them unsuitable and underwhelming.
Fans Don’t Want To See Stranger Things Season 5 End This Way
In a Reddit discussion about potential conclusions for Stranger Things season 5, user @OnlyOwl4100 isn’t convinced that time travel will provide a solution for Hawkins. Instead, they believe the most disappointing outcome for the popular Netflix show could involve:
“If they could go back in time, preventing Vecna from turning evil seems straightforward, but it feels too simple for me. I’m hoping for a more intricate storyline or resolution instead.”
As a dedicated fan of Stranger Things, I can’t help but ponder about the potential time jump in season 5. While there are numerous theories floating around, some believe that incorporating time travel might seem cheesy and disrupt the overall atmosphere of the series. If the creators do decide to include it, let’s hope it’s a minimal aspect that doesn’t overshadow the climax.
The same Redditor also doesn’t think Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) or Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) should die “as a sacrifice.” Many are worried that Eleven could die since she is the most powerful character besides Vecna and will lead the charge against him in the final season. Since fans think Will could stop Vecna, he could also be in danger. Although there is no doubt that both Eleven and Will be in rough shape at some point in the final season, they need to survive.
A significant number of Stranger Things enthusiasts believe that no major characters should meet their demise during season 5, as fans have grown deeply attached to these characters and their journey thus far. There has been ongoing discussion about which character might not make it through, given the expectation of intense battles in several episodes. Reddit user @Boy_13 expresses a preference for avoiding a violent end.
“The least desirable outcome might be it becoming a massacre… It seems to me that contemporary viewers have become so accustomed to series like The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones, where characters are killed off without much thought, that they might lose interest if a show doesn’t include such high-stakes moments.”
Ultimately, there seems to be a consensus among fans that Stranger Things season 5 should not conclude with a specific scenario. As explained by Redditor jmf0828, this apprehension appears to be shared by many due to certain concerns they harbor.
“It was all a dream/D&D game fantasy.”
Although Stranger Things often features Dungeons and Dragons games within its episodes, it’s far-fetched to assume that all the show’s events are merely part of a game. Such an assumption would be overly simplistic and disappointing for fans. Instead, it underscores the strong desire among viewers for a genuine explanation concerning the darkness in Hawkins.
What Have The Duffer Brothers Revealed About The Stranger Things Ending?
In numerous interviews, the creators of Stranger Things, known as the Duffer Brothers, have been questioned about the ending of season 5. Although they haven’t revealed their specific plans for wrapping up the series, they did clarify what fans shouldn’t anticipate. The Duffer Brothers confirmed that the “it was all a dream” or Dungeons & Dragons theory will not materialize, which is certainly good news for viewers.
Matt Duffer communicated to The Guardian back in 2023 that it is impossible to satisfy the expectations of every Stranger Things fan, and he elaborated on this statement.
From my own experience as a creator, I believe one significant path to falling short is by trying to please everyone. Our audience is incredibly diverse, ranging from young to old, and each fan certainly has their unique thoughts about how our show should conclude. However, we’re not relying on social media for direction in this case. Instead, we take a leap of faith, hoping and praying that it will resonate with our viewers. It was intriguing: when we arrived at the decision, it simply felt right, and we’ve decided to go ahead and make it happen!
