Netflix is creating a live-action adaptation of One Piece, originally announced in 2024. Since then, updates on the show, produced by Wit Studio and based on Eiichiro Oda’s popular story about Monkey D. Luffy and his crew, the Straw Hat Pirates, have been scarce. However, Netflix has recently shared a new official update.
I’m absolutely buzzing right now! They just dropped the first teaser trailer for the One Piece anime remake, and it looks incredible! We finally got full character sheets for the whole Straw Hat crew, and even a glimpse of Red-Haired Shanks! The hype is real, and fans – myself included – are completely losing it over this project.
Wit Studio’s One Piece Reveals First Look At Character Sheets And Image Boards In New Update
It was a huge day for One Piece fans! The official X account shared some exciting details about the anime remake being done by WIT Studio and Netflix. They revealed character designs for the Straw Hat Pirates – Luffy’s crew as they first come together in the East Blue. I was really impressed with how accurately the expressions and details from the manga were captured, especially for characters like Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp, and Sanji – the original East Blue Five. We also got our first look at a character sheet for Red-Haired Shanks, who inspired Luffy to become Pirate King. It’s a great preview of what’s to come!
New character designs and image boards for the next season of One Piece, animated by Wit Studio, have been released. The images offer a glimpse of scenes from early story arcs like Romance Dawn, Shells Town, Orange Town, Baratie, and Syrup Village. Fans are already impressed with the high quality of the animation and photography, which seems to be a significant step up from previous seasons and promises to make this new season even more enjoyable.

Netflix has announced that its upcoming One Piece anime remake will use the latest technology, aiming for a thoroughly modern feel. They’ve asked fans to watch for further announcements about the project. While this update wasn’t a major reveal, the fact that Netflix is now promoting it suggests the remake is progressing nicely.
There haven’t been any new announcements about when Netflix’s remake of One Piece will be released, but fans are encouraged to keep an eye out for more information later this year. The biggest updates are expected at One Piece Day in August 2026. This event will showcase major projects for the franchise, including the new anime remake from Wit Studio. We’ll likely get our first real look at the remake – including artwork and possibly a trailer – and maybe even a release date announcement at that time.
It’s unlikely the new One Piece anime project from Wit Studio will be released this year, with 2027 being the earliest possible release date. The remake has been in development for around three years, and the team is clearly dedicated to creating a high-quality adaptation. Given the manga’s incredible popularity – it’s sold over 600 million copies worldwide – it’s important that the anime stays true to the source material. Wit Studio aims to do just that, with Masashi Koizuka directing and Kyoji Asano handling character designs.
