Fans have endured a long wait for season 2 of Netflix’s “Wednesday,” but luckily, we’re nearly there, stepping once again through the doors of Nevermore Academy. The popular supernatural comedy, featuring Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams, will make its comeback on August 6 with the first half of its second season. With a third season already confirmed, the show’s creators have given some hints about how many more seasons fans might get to enjoy.
In the upcoming season 2 of Wednesday, Catherine Zeta-Jones continues her role as Morticia, Luis Guzmán plays Gomez, and Isaac Ordonez portrays Pugsley. Joining this talented cast is Lady Gaga, who will bring Rosaline Rotwood to life – a revered teacher at Nevermore Academy who interacts with Wednesday. Another new character, Grandmama Frump, will be played by Joanna Lumley, who is Morticia Addams’ mother and Wednesday’s grandmother. Described as formidable, emotionally cold, and sharp-tongued, this intriguing figure captures the attention of Wednesday. The latest trailer for season 2 offers a glimpse of Grandmama Frump at an airport, possibly returning from a sunny destination since Thing required sunscreen or traveling to an important location. Fans eagerly anticipate this new chapter in the series, as they look forward to uncovering more mysteries and potentially many more seasons.
Netflix’s Wednesday Could Run for Seven Seasons
With a third season approaching and rumors of a spin-off series featuring Wednesday, fans are more convinced than ever that the quirky and intricate Addams Family will be gracing their screens for much longer than they initially thought. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, during an interview with Tim Burton and Jenna Ortega (Wednesday’s showrunners), Alfred Gough and Miles Millar hinted that they aim to extend Wednesday’s education “during her Nevermore tenure, which spans seven years (or seasons).
During the same interview, Tim Burton and Jenna Ortega were reluctant to share their thoughts on the potential future of the show “Wednesday,” suggesting that nothing is definitively planned out. Regarding the future installments of “Wednesday” and possible seasons, producer Tim Burton hinted that no decisions have been made yet. “I’m not a forward-thinking person,” admitted Burton when asked about more seasons. “You’re speaking to two individuals who aren’t ideal people to ask that question.” Additionally, Burton disclosed a fascinating tidbit about the dance scene in season 1 of “Wednesday” – Ortega was battling COVID while performing her mesmerizing routine, which made the already iconic dance even more remarkable due to her determination.

Given the exceptional performance of “Wednesday” in its third run, it’s entirely reasonable that Netflix might explore spin-offs and additional seasons for the show. The series has broken records as the most-watched English program on the platform, surpassing the previous record set by “Stranger Things 4.” Fans can anticipate updates about potential spin-offs later in the year, but for now, part one of season 2 is scheduled to premiere on August 6th, 2025, with part two following on September 3rd, 2025.
