Attack on Titan became incredibly popular after its anime debuted in 2013, and it’s remained a global hit ever since. It’s consistently ranked among the most beloved anime of all time, making it hard to find anything to fill the void it left. While the manga ended in 2021 and the anime in 2023, there haven’t been any major new projects since, aside from a compilation movie and a few smaller releases. Attack on Titan was a true phenomenon that helped bring anime to a wider audience, but that leading role now belongs to Demon Slayer.
Honestly, I think Demon Slayer is stepping up as the next big anime that everyone’s going to be talking about, kind of like Attack on Titan was! Both shows are all about humans fighting for survival against terrifying creatures, but the awesome thing is Demon Slayer is still releasing new content. They just dropped a new movie, Infinity Castle, and have two more planned! While Attack on Titan feels like it’s finished for now, Demon Slayer is keeping the hype alive and giving fans something just as thrilling to jump into.
Attack on Titan Isn’t the Only Anime That Features Gruesome Human Eating Creatures

- Demon Slayer Will Continue With Its Growing Success
I remember when Attack on Titan first came out – it grabbed a lot of anime fans right away. The idea was really striking, with these terrifying, human-eating titans. It felt like anyone could die at any moment, and the tension was constant. But it wasn’t the only show to explore that kind of dark premise. Demon Slayer, which is a bit more recent, has a similar vibe. Instead of titans, it features demons who prey on humans. While Demon Slayer doesn’t quite reach the same level of darkness or complexity as Attack on Titan, it’s quickly become a great option for those who enjoyed the thrill of Attack on Titan, and it’s generated just as much, if not more, excitement.
With the recent release of the movie Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, the Demon Slayer series is currently very popular. And it’s expected to continue for several more years, as two additional movies are already planned.
Could Attack on Titan Make a Comeback?
A Spin-Off Animated Series Isn’t Impossible
As a huge Attack on Titan fan, I don’t think anything will ever quite fill the void it left! Right now, there aren’t any official plans for a new project, which is a bummer. But honestly, I wouldn’t rule out a return completely – the Attack on Titan universe is just too rich with possibilities. I’m really hoping we get a spin-off anime sometime in the future!
Considering Attack on Titan already has a prequel manga called “Before the Fall,” revisiting the story through that series could be a good approach. It’s similar to how My Hero Academia expanded its universe with the Vigilantes manga, introducing new characters while staying connected to the original storyline.
The first part of the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle arc is now playing in theaters. If you can’t wait for the theatrical release, you can read the manga on Manga Plus. The anime currently has four seasons available on Crunchyroll. The rest of the story will be released as movies, and fans will need to see them in theaters when they become available in their country.
