I’ve been checking out previews for Earth of Oryn, a new 4X strategy game coming to Steam, and it looks really promising. It’s got that classic city-building vibe of games like Stronghold Crusader and The Settlers – which I totally love. There are a lot of indie strategy games out there trying to capture that feel, but Earth of Oryn really seems to be hitting it out of the park with its amazing graphics and what looks like a seriously deep, complex way to play.

Building up an army and strengthening defenses against enemies is key to success, much like it was in Stronghold Crusader.

As a big fan of Stronghold Crusader, I was immediately struck by how similar the graphics in Earth of Oryn are! It’s got that same low-poly, pixel-art style, so building castles and towns feels just like being back in the Crusader days. But it’s clear they’ve used modern tech to really improve things – the water, like lakes and rivers, looks absolutely gorgeous and so much more detailed!

Though advertised as a 4X medieval strategy game, Earth of Oryn focuses more on building and growing your territory. This is similar to games like The Settlers, where thriving wasn’t just about having a strong army, but also about how well you managed your economy and supplies. Like The Settlers 4, which offered civilizations like the Romans, Vikings, Mayans, and Trojans, Earth of Oryn lets you choose between Barne, Niluine, Hambkar, and Brandford, each with its own special resources and culture.

Creative Mode Adds Depth to Earth of Oryn

The developer of Earth of Oryn has included a tool that lets players create their own worlds. With it, you can change the landscape, add forests, mountains, and rivers, and build anything from small villages to huge castles – all without limitations. Essentially, this ‘Creative Mode’ lets fans who enjoy building games focus entirely on construction and growth, making it a fun experience even without the other gameplay elements.
