Details about a new Aliens: Fireteam Elite game have unexpectedly appeared online. The first Aliens: Fireteam Elite, released in 2021, didn’t immediately become popular. While reviews were mixed, with some being slightly better than others, the game performed well enough to be released on Nintendo Switch in 2023. Now, it seems a sequel is being developed.
Aliens: Fireteam Elite is a cooperative third-person shooter, playing much like recent games such as Back 4 Blood and Redfall. Players can team up with a friend or play solo with AI companions to complete 12 missions that take place after the original Alien films. As Colonial Marines, you’ll be sent to a space station infested with Xenomorphs to deal with the consequences of Weyland-Yutani’s experiments.
Alien: Fireteam Elite Sequel Apparently in the Works
In mid-2024, talk began about a possible sequel to *Alien: Fireteam Elite*. Recently, an ESRB rating for the game appeared online, though it was quickly removed. Polygon managed to capture some details before it disappeared: the sequel is coming to PC, Xbox Series X, and PlayStation 5, and will be published by Daybreak Game Company, the owner of Cold Iron Studios. The original *Alien: Fireteam Elite* was published by Cold Iron Studios themselves, with help from Focus Home Interactive for distribution in Europe.

It might be unexpected, but a sequel to *Alien: Fireteam Elite* is in development. While the game saw a big initial boost in players at launch, numbers dropped quickly and settled around 500-1000 on Steam. Despite this, *Alien: Fireteam Elite* has consistently received very positive reviews from over 13,000 users, which likely convinced the developers and publishers to move forward with a second game.

Reviewers found *Alien: Fireteam Elite* to be somewhat repetitive, noting that levels often consisted of long, similar corridors filled with waves of enemies and missions that didn’t offer much variety. They also felt the game lacked a compelling story or cinematic scenes to keep players engaged. However, players enjoyed the intense atmosphere created by the claustrophobic levels and appreciated the different playstyles offered by the game’s class system.
The popularity of *Alien* video games will likely remain strong for years to come. Fans are still eagerly requesting a remastered version of *Alien: Isolation*, which is considered a top-tier horror game, even though a new game is already in development. The positive reception of *Alien: Romulus* and the *Alien: Earth* TV series on FX have further fueled the demand for more games in the *Alien* universe.
