New Batman Arkham Title Potentially Leaked

It’s rumored that another game within the Batman Arkham series is being developed by Camouflaj. This new project, which has recently been leaked, is believed to be a follow-up to Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate (known as Batman: Arkham Shadow).

Arkham Shadow” is an action-adventure game set in virtual reality, developed by Camouflaj – a studio based in Bellevue, Washington, which is part of Oculus Studios. This game was launched in October 2024 to much praise, as indicated by its “Mighty” rating on OpenCritic. It boasts an average score of 86 and a 100% recommendation rate from reviewers.

Batman: Arkham Shadow Sequel Reportedly in the Works

As a devoted gamer, I can’t contain my excitement! It seems that during Fan Expo Chicago 2025, the cat is out of the bag about the upcoming sequel to one of my favorite games – Batman: Arkham Shadow. The veteran actor Mark Rolston, who brought Commissioner Gordon to life in the original, casually dropped a hint that he’ll be reprising his role in the unannounced follow-up! During an interview with CultureCombine, he shared details about his extensive work in video games, emphasizing that for Batman: Arkham Shadow, he delivered full motion capture, voice acting, and more. Intriguingly, he added a cryptic comment: “We’re about to embark on another one of those – I play Commissioner Gordon once again!” This revelation has surely set the gaming world abuzz with anticipation!

When Could Batman: Arkham Shadow 2 Release?

As a die-hard gamer, I’ve got some exciting news to share! Back in late 2020, the team at Camouflaj kicked off the full production of Batman: Arkham Shadow, which is approximately four years in the making – just a smidge under the standard duration for a big-budget console game these days. If we’re looking at a sequel following a similar timeline, it’s likely to drop between 2028 and 2029.

Now here’s where things get interesting. While Sean Rolston hasn’t started working on the project as of this past summer, let me clarify that voice and motion capture aren’t usually the very first steps in game development. Typically, they come into play once the game’s main storyline has been nailed down during the early stages of production. So, even though it seems like we might be waiting a bit longer for more updates, rest assured the creative minds are hard at work shaping this future gaming masterpiece!

By mid-February 2025, barely four months after its release, it was estimated that “Batman: Arkham Shadow” had amassed over a million players. This rapid growth places it among the fastest-expanding high-budget VR games in recent memory, suggesting a sequel could be on the horizon. Given the game’s impressive critical reception, even without outstanding sales figures, it has become something of a prestige title. Such recognition might inspire Meta to continue funding the project as a means to bolster the longevity of their virtual reality platform. Given that Oculus Studios is likely to be in charge of the “Batman: Arkham Shadow” sequel, it’s unlikely to be playable on VR headsets other than those owned by Meta.

We’re about to start another one of those [Batman Arkham games]. I play Commissioner Gordon.

On an unrelated topic, a February 2025 report by Jason Schreier of Bloomberg suggested that Rocksteady Studios might revisit the Batman series with another standalone game, their first since the release of Batman: Arkham Knight in 2015. However, no additional information regarding this supposed project has been disclosed. It remains unknown whether this game will be a continuation of the critically praised “Arkhamverse” or an entirely new venture.
