At The Game Awards 2024, it was unveiled by Saber Interactive – a fresh, cooperative multiplayer adventure titled Turok: Origins. This game marks the first installment in the series since the 2019 release of Turok: Escape from the Lost Valley, which was initially available only on Xbox One and PC but was later removed from distribution in 2022. As published by Saber Interactive, the upcoming Turok: Origins rekindles the series’ signature blend of fast-paced, sci-fi action shooter gameplay, incorporating a solo and cooperative multiplayer experience for the first time.

The Turok video game saga kicked off in 1997, with Iguana Entertainment handling development and Acclaim taking care of publication for the Nintendo 64 and PC versions. Later that year, the game spawned several sequels, such as Turok 2: Seeds of Evil, Rage Wars, and Shadow of Oblivion, all of which were exclusive to the N64. In 2008, a prequel called Turok: Evolution was introduced, along with a new Turok game that wasn’t connected to the previous installments. Escape from the Lost Valley, too, stood apart from the main series, as it was inspired by the Turok comics. The latest addition to this long-standing and iconic shooter franchise is Turok: Origins.

The trailer for Turok: Origins was exhibited during The Game Awards, highlighting its thrilling cooperative gameplay that caters to a group of three players simultaneously. The initial trailer showcased an assortment of Turok’s weapons, ranging from futuristic items like laser rifles to more primitive ones such as bows, knives, and even a peculiar whip-like weapon capable of manipulating dinosaurs. This sneak peek also featured various dinosaurs, like colossal triceratops and velociraptors.

Although no specific launch date for the prehistoric game Turok: Origins has been announced as of now, enthusiasts can add it to their wishlist in anticipation. The game is set to drop on PlayStation 5, PC via Steam, and Xbox Series X/S. Furthermore, Turok: Origins hints at a return to its roots, while also introducing an innovative feature allowing players to acquire new DNA powers from vanquished dinosaurs, thereby granting them unique abilities that they can tailor according to their preferences.
