Rhythm Doctor, a cooperative rhythm game for two players, is now available on Xbox. Fans of the genre have something fresh to play! Although it’s new to consoles on Xbox, Rhythm Doctor was first released on Steam, where it received a lot of positive feedback.
Even as 2025 nears its end, December is shaping up to be a packed month for Xbox. Several new games joined Xbox Game Pass at the beginning of the month, but some titles, including Mortal Kombat 11 and Still Wakes the Deep, have also left the service. Beyond Game Pass, the Xbox Store has added new games available for purchase, such as Rhythm Doctor, a rhythm game that’s especially fun for players who like to team up.
Rhythm Doctor is a New 2-Player Co-Op Game on Xbox Consoles and PC
The rhythm game Rhythm Doctor launched on the Xbox Store on December 18th as an exclusive. It’s also designed to be played easily on handheld devices and costs $19.99, which could be appealing to rhythm game enthusiasts. Plus, it’s an Xbox Play Anywhere game, so you only need to buy it once to play on all your Xbox devices. Rhythm Doctor has actually been available on Steam in early access since 2021, where it’s received “overwhelmingly positive” reviews – 98% of players recommend it.
Rhythm Doctor is a game where you restore health by matching the beat. You play as a doctor who ‘defibrillates’ patients – essentially healing them – by pressing a single button in time with their heartbeats. Despite its simple one-button controls, the game has received a lot of positive attention, with reviewers particularly praising how the music enhances the game’s emotional story.
I’m really excited that Rhythm Doctor lets you play with a friend locally – they can just jump in and out whenever! The developers mentioned on Steam that online multiplayer isn’t working great right now because of lag, which is a bummer. But if you’ve got an extra controller, it sounds like playing with a friend is a ton of fun, according to other players. And of course, you can still enjoy the whole game on your own if you prefer!
Steam I’m really excited about all the details they’ve put into this game! It’s got over 20 levels, and they’re not just thrown together – each one is carefully crafted with its own story. What’s even cooler is the developer says each level subtly teaches you a bit about music theory, but in a way that’s easy to understand. It might actually help you get better at understanding music while you’re playing!
The popular rhythm game, Rhythm Doctor, is now available on Xbox, joining other rhythm games in the Xbox Store. While there are other options, Rhythm Doctor has quickly gained a lot of attention. It’s currently unknown if the game will be released on consoles like the PS5 or the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, but its success might encourage the developers to expand to other platforms. For now, fans will have to be patient and wait for an announcement.
Steam Fans of rhythm games are excited about the upcoming release of Rhythm Doctor on Xbox. And there’s even more to look forward to! Xbox recently announced its next Developer Direct event will take place in January 2026. Matt Booty, head of Microsoft Studios, shared that Playground Games will be showcasing a new game at the event. While it’s still unknown if a new rhythm game will be revealed, Rhythm Doctor promises plenty of entertainment for fans in the meantime.
