As a die-hard fan of Cyberpunk 2077 who’s been traversing Night City since its initial release, the news about tomorrow’s REDstream has me more than just excited! It’s not every day that CD Projekt RED decides to dish out some fresh content for their masterpiece. The fact that they’re still holding onto fuel in their tank is a testament to their unwavering commitment to the game.
It turns out that CD Projekt RED has a lot left in the tank for Cyberpunk 2077.
The studio is organizing a REDstream event tomorrow at 5 PM Central European Time, during which they’ll reveal details about Update 2.2 for Cyberpunk 2077. The Global Community Director fueled anticipation on his social media platform (previously known as Twitter), stating that the team has more work to do and still has some energy left in them.
Originally, he made it clear that features like PS5 Pro Support and NG+ expansions, though frequently asked for, will not be implemented. However, he hinted at some exciting new projects by saying, “There are indeed other intriguing things cooking up,” and promised more details would be shared during tomorrow’s live stream.
In December 2023, Cyberpunk 2077 received an update called Patch 2.1. Although it’s not as extensive as the Phantom Liberty expansion, this update introduced several enhancements for a better gaming experience. For instance, players now have access to a fully operational metro system for swift travel and can listen to music anywhere outside their vehicles without being in a vehicle first.
CD Projekt RED also added new vehicles, activities, and hangouts to the game.
CD Projekt RED Is Staying Busy with Support for Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher
As a gamer, it’s quite a shock to hear about fresh content for Cyberpunk 2077, especially given CD Projekt RED’s previous assertion that they won’t be supporting the PS5 Pro. What makes this even more intriguing is their recent dive into full-scale production for their next title in The Witcher series.
The studio has disclosed the team sizes for each project they’re currently working on. They have four confirmed projects: Polaris (a new Witcher game), Orion (the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel), Sirius (a multiplayer spin-off of the Witcher series), and Hadar (a new intellectual property). More than 100 individuals are assigned to “shared services,” which includes tasks like localization, quality assurance, and similar roles.
It’s worth mentioning that among the projects being handled, some unannounced ones possibly developed by external developers, witnessed a staff increase of more than 100%. While the number started at eight and now stands at 19, it leaves one pondering if this unexpected Cyberpunk 2077 update could be connected.
We’ll know for sure tomorrow.
