New Cozy Game Basically Lets You Live the Life of a Rarely Seen Stardew Valley NPC

Stardew Valley features captivating non-player characters (NPCs) that significantly contribute to its gameplay which revolves around relationships. When you’re not managing your farm or digging for hidden riches in the mines, you’re encouraged to foster connections with the various NPCs of Stardew Valley, some of whom may even lead to romantic entanglements. However, not every NPC is always available, and not all can be pursued romantically. A new character was just introduced among these elusive NPCs with the 1.6 update, making him one of the game’s scarcest characters.

Last year, Stardew Valley 1.6 introduced a wealth of new content, one standout being the elusive bookseller Marcello who only makes rare appearances in the game. But here’s some exciting news for fellow fans: soon we’ll have the opportunity to dive into the world of running a bookshop just like Marcello with the upcoming game, Bookshop Simulator, developed by Blep Games!

Although Bookshop Simulator doesn’t take place in Stardew Valley‘s universe and won’t feature Marcello himself, it certainly captures the essence of a full-time bookseller – entrusting us with managing our very own bookstore where we can order books, fill our shelves, generate revenue, and so much more!

Bookshop Simulator Echoes Stardew Valley’s Marcello in a Full-Time Role

Rare Books and Rare Visits

In the latest 1.6 update of Stardew Valley, a new character named Marcello was introduced. If you haven’t played since before this update, you haven’t had the chance to encounter him yet. Given his infrequent appearances in the game, he can be quite elusive. Marcello makes an appearance only twice during each season on random dates indicated by balloons on the game calendar. When visited, players have a chance to acquire valuable items such as books that boost experience in specific fields or improve speed. As one of the more enigmatic characters in Stardew Valley, it’s definitely worth seeking him out when he’s around.

In the game called “Bookshop Simulator,” you’ll no longer face scarcity as you take on the role of managing your own bookstore, similar to a character named Marcello, but with books just as potent as the Power Books from “Stardew Valley.” If you find rare books within “Bookshop Simulator,” they might grant powerful abilities that boost your earnings and capabilities. In essence, it’s like playing as Marcello from “Stardew Valley” but instead of controlling him, you are in charge, managing everything yourself.

From One Stall to a Growing Empire

In Stardew Valley, Marcello is a stationary Non-Player Character (NPC), who remains in the same spot without much of a backstory or progression beyond his inventory. Contrastingly, Bookshop Simulator offers a comprehensive management experience where players start with a modest bookstore and gradually build it into an international empire. As they expand, they can establish new branches worldwide, and each location can be customized with items such as rugs, plants, and wall decorations. To add to the fun, players can also acquire a cat, similar to Stardew Valley’s offering.

In simpler terms, the game titled Bookshop Simulator, though not identical in appearance or gameplay to Stardew Valley, could still be an excellent alternative for those curious about managing a bookstore as Marcello. Set to debut on Steam’s early access platform on September 12, Bookshop Simulator appears to offer an engaging and comfortable gaming experience, with ample activities to engage players. There’s even a possibility for role-playing as Marcello while attempting to persuade customers to buy books!
