Yukinobu Tatsu’s manga titled “Dandadan” started being published in Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ magazine back in April 2021. Since then, the series has accumulated a total of 15 tankobon volumes. As of November 2023, over 3.2 million copies were in circulation and the series boasted more than 360 million views on Shonen Jump+.

This is a story about Momo, a high school girl who comes from a family of spirit mediums, and her classmate Okarun, an occult fanatic. After Momo rescues Okarun from being bullied, they begin talking. However, an argument ensues between them since Momo believes in ghosts but denies aliens exist, and Okarun believes in aliens but denies ghosts exist.

In an attempt to validate their beliefs, Momo ventures into an abandoned hospital, where a UFO sighting has occurred, while Okarun explores a haunted tunnel. To their astonishment, they encounter unexplainable supernatural occurrences beyond understanding. Caught in these perilous situations, Momo uncovers her dormant abilities and Okarun acquires the power of a curse to tackle these fresh threats! Their destiny intertwines as their romantic journey unfolds!?

The story of the occult battle and adolescence starts!

Science SARU, founded by Eunyoung Choi and director Masaaki Yuasa in 2013, will create the anime version of it. Notable works from this studio include “Devilman Crybaby”, “Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!”, and “Scott Pilgrim Takes Off”. Fuga Yamashiro (“Super Shiro”) is set to direct, while Hiroshi Seko (“Attack on Titan”, “Jujutsu Kaisen”, “Chainsaw Man”) will handle the script, and Kensuke Ushio (“Space Dandy”, “A Silent Voice”) will compose the music for the series.
