Box Dragon, along with Coffee Stain Studios, has introduced a fresh roguelike deck-building game titled “As We Descend.” This unveiling happened at Coffee Stain’s “The Spill” presentation event on Tuesday.

The team behind As We Descend offers a unique tactical spin on the cherished deckbuilding roguelike style of gameplay. They explain that you’ll gather teams for your journeys, maneuver through treacherous politics, gain support from city residents, and face off against formidable adversaries beyond comprehension.

In the initial offering by Box Dragon titled “As We Descend,” you’ll encounter turn-based combat and card creation mechanics. Additionally, there is an element of character development where your interactions will influence the people you meet in a city that reacts distinctively as per your choices, creating a setting that transforms over time in response to your decisions.

As a gamer, I can tell you that Kevin Chang, the mastermind behind this game, referred to it as an open-ended strategy sandbox during The Spill event. This means that my choices and decisions matter significantly as I navigate through the game. Additionally, he dropped a hint that the game’s difficulty might be reminiscent of Dark Souls, suggesting a fair yet challenging experience for players like me.

At this moment, the game doesn’t have an announced launch date. But, you can get a sneak peek by trying out the demo on Steam, which provides a glimpse of what the complete version will offer once it’s officially released.
